Stanley's is off Skipton Road by the side of Gisburn Rd School. That terrace is raised up from the main road and the steps take you through to the back street.

Yes, glanced at the Montrose Terrace ginnel in passing; the privet hedge is higher up than the steps pictured.

The previous picture shows the ginnel from Monks Cottages down onto Walmsgate.

Of course! And I know it so well! Used to be the main route from the ford up to what is now Philip Street and used to be the main route through the town. Funny isn't it how hard it is to envisage this when we are so used to Lamb Hill and Church Street.

This edge of town ginnel is more modern than the last.

The last picture is of the path which runs in front of Oakfield Avenue onto Fernbank Avenue, the path having crossed the fields from Brogden Lane.

Interesting to study this map of the area in 1853.

The previous picture was from King Street looking down to the gable ends of Garden, Market and Orchard Streets.

Thanks for your comments.

If Stanley's scratching his head on this one, I'll leave it a while to let people work out where it is.

In that neck of the woods, Stanley.

It's the steps going up off Manchester Road to the wide tunnel through the houses to Cobden Street.

Here's one with the ginnel in the picture part of the background.

Its lovely that people can decorate their entries with pot- plants, looks good but I'm not sure that I would be so trusting.
