Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Made a sausage, onion, beans and garlic casserole and fished three of the twelve small sausages out with some onions for a sausage butty for tea. Casserole will go down well today after 24 hour's maturing and I fancy little boiled potatoes with it.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sirloin steak, chips & onion rings for tea with salad on the side. Just picked our eating apples, we have 2 cooking apples on our other tree. Usually we have a glut which I freeze etc. and give away, but not this year. Our neighbour's tree is the same and a crab apple tree down the lane, which was full last year, has none on. We went to a pick-your-own on Thursday and they said it was a bad year for damsons because the bee poulation was down, so no pollenating.
Say only a little but say it well.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Same with our pear tree Moh, loads last year, so many that we had to give them to jam a chutney making friends once we had filled our freezer. We have two pears on the tree this year and those are quite small compared to last years examples.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Hard luck Eileen! Finished the sausage casserole yesterday. When you live on your own you have to get used to eating the same thing for several meals or else live on snacks.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had a first last night. During the day I had been quietly soaking a batch of dried peas destined to go with the two ham hocks when I have cooked them to make some ham and pea soup. They had got to the stage where they were almost soft and smelt of peas and I quite fancied some so I toasted the last thick crust of the loaf, spooned some peas and liquor on to it and topped it with two poached eggs. Looked good and tasted even better. Not a combination I have tried before but it works. Ham hocks will be rendered down today in the PC and the fat taken off before adding to the peas.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Still on the soup.....( getting terribly tedious)
But hubby has now lost 4 kilos in the last fortnight and I feel a bit slimmer but have not lost a pound.
Made a 'two night' pot of Soup again today, but think I am going to have to bust loose and eat a proper meal the following night after that, before my teeth lose the ability to chew...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
"What did you have for tea" ( literally )
I have treated myself to an order from Twinings Tea mail order. - Very quick delivery.
Started with a box of Yunnan tea bags - result of watching a TV programme about the area in S. China where the tea comes from. I think member chinatyke lives somewhere nearby? Well it's different! Quite a strong smokey taste. Might take a bit of getting used to.
Next Ceylon Orange Pekoe. Very nice flavour. I'm a bit out of practice at the tea pot with leaf tea routine though.
Finally a large tin of everyday breakfast tea. That was a bargain as its sell by date is November so half price.
The tins are works of art - so I won't be able throw them away - more junk in the cupboard.

We had a choice last night of Lasagne and salad or Bombay chicken with rice, followed by Apple tart and fresh cream or Pineapple with whipped fromage fraise. Food to rich for the other half he was up half the night with indigestion now he's still in bed. Gives me time to catch up on OGFB Eileen

It's going to be ham and pea soup for a while! Beefed up with boiled spuds to make it even cheaper. I will freeze some after I give it a good boiling up today.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
The stew was the cheapest cuts available over here. Bourguignon meat which was shin made a good stew. I have been having Turkey steak, but Dave has tried the steak bit tough. The cut the meat across the grain here strange as our old butcher said meat shouldn't be cut that way. Also the meat is bovine not beef? Last night we had Chicken & Potato wedges and almond croissant for pudding. Eileen
