Bloody hell Stanley! I know the instinct is to get home but I think under the circumstances the ambulance may have been a better bet. At least you would have been checked over. I don't know what your normal heart rate is but yours is considerably higher than my average of 60. Do you self monitor your blood sugar? If so what is that like?
I know that you will not want to worry her but you should tell your daughter then she is aware. For goodness sake take care and if necessary hit the panic button if you have another episode or don't feel well.

Stanley, Still ring the Doctors. With a heart rate at 100 you could have developed some heart Arrhythmia. Probably the most minor of heart conditions but still needs to kept under check. Old farts need looking after.

I hope you're back and cosy in the warm house now, Stanley. Don't get cold if your body is struggling to shake something off. I hope it goes away quickly and you're back to normal now. Do as the others have said and get an immediate MOT from the doc. All the best, Tiz.

Thanks to all of you. Susan is in the loop, she came round yesterday and will be here again this morning. Will get an appointment as soon as I can.... I think I'm a bit better this morning but nowhere near right. Biggest problem is I twisted my right knee when I went down.
Just checked BP Yesterday it was 110/60, today it's130/73 HR 95 so a slight improvement....
Short walk this morning and Susan takes me and Jack up to Letcliffe at dinner so he can have a good run....

Don't worry Liz! I'm just old and this goes with the territory... Have been monitoring BP and HR, BP is back to normal and heart rate has been falling all morning, down to 80 now and normally I'm around 70/75 so all is well.

I know what affected him...it was the shock of reading the news that:
1. The the Italian olive oil harvest has been disastrous and it's attracted even more criminal gangs into counterfeit olive oil.
2. Labour have been accepting large amounts of money from a hedge fund millionaire.
3. The money men are slapping each other on the back as Footsie Index shoots above 7000 for the first time.
It's all too much at once!

Oh dear Stanley, have just looked at this topic. I do hope you are getting back to normal fast.
Have you seen the Doctor? Wishing you well.

I would imagine Stanley, that the worst part was the where and when! There is another round of viruses in our midst, all have been different in how the individual is affected, the latest one involves feeling cold regardless of the ambient temperature. Self determination and mental toughness are no match for this one, being "well hard" counts for nought when horizontal on a cold floor. Resist the temptation to tough it out, stay in, keep as warm as you can, and seek professional advise. We have both acquired this latest viral attack, due in part to a visit on Mothers Day by someone bearing gifts, and contaminating the entire house. The amount of good Rum consumed here has trebled, laced with Ribena, whilst this may have little medicinal value, it sure as hell lifts the spirits. The feet may still be cold, the remainder is glowing. Good luck, and take care.

Thanks Peter, I hadn't thought of that. Here's a pic of me and Mick out with the dogs this dinnertime. By the way, It was Susan who buttoned the Crombie up like that!
Cathy, I shall be off to Hassan my doctor as soon as possible.

I reckon that counts as medicinal value, Thomo! It helps one have a positive attitude which is bound to aid recovery.

It was my turn last night for the Grand Depart from reality, two hours, but fortunately on the settee, no warning at all, but when I came to, I felt truly bad, not sure which way was up. Not much fun when you go to bed and are frightened of falling asleep! It is all coming together again now, and my hearing is nearly normal.

Not too sure Tiz.... I think I'm improving rapidly but I had a big sleep and It's too early to take a view yet... I must be doing the right things..... I'll report later when I can make a proper assessment, it always takes me a long time to get going in the morning, I've learned to wait 'til all systems are up and running!. BP and HR were beck to near normal yesterday morning....
07:30.
Just got back from a short walk, all my little jobs done and I've just done this morning's readings... 123?73 and HR 88. The HR doesn't surprise me because it's fairly obvious my body is still fighting hard against whatever it was attacked me, I feel a bit dithery and weak. Not to be wondered at because there is a battle going on and the evidence is my immune system is winning! I shall carry on with the regime I have established of frequent small meals, plenty of water, minimum effort, keeping warm and giving myself every chance of beating whatever it is. I am not going to make an appointment with the doctor this morning on the grounds there is no emergency, I don't want to expend the effort or upset my routine. I shall go to see him later when my strength is back up. Quietly forwards......
(I can';t help thin king about what my doctor said to me at the MH in Hanover in 1956 when I recovered after getting severe botulism (I was in a coma for almost a week). He told me I was very lucky, an attack like that usually kills. He also said he wished he had my immune system as I now had a full set of antibodies waiting to leap to my defence. I think he was perhaps right.... The body is a wonderful mechanism as long as you can give it a fighting chance!)

" I am not going to make an appointment with the doctor this morning on the grounds there is no emergency"
It doesn't have to be an emergency to speak to your GP.

What would you say if someone said " my cars stopped running". You would probably say "why didn't you tell me before it stopped". Give the man a chance, go while you have still some symptoms to go on.

Sorry, being a stubborn old bugger I'll go my own way! There is nothing radically wrong with me beyond an infection. I shall go to see him later but at the moment I am more concerned with following my present regime which all the evidence shows is working. Incidentally after sitting here and writing an articles HR is down to 80 which is only slightly above normal.
I do appreciate the concern but give me a break, I'm doing well and recovering slowly.... What more could anyone ask?
Later.... I've been for some milk and got a sudden fancy for salmon poached in milk for tea... Now that's a good sign!

I see from medical matters that Stanley is still kicking... especially against those saying 'get thisen t't doct'rs'...
This could have gone in Forgotten Corners...
There's a big project underway to 'tame' the Barnoldswick Triangle at the junction of Ghyll Lane and Skipton Road, mainly through the heroic endeavours of Jilly Sandamas. There's a running joke about the relics that are being pulled out of the Triangle (think Bermuda). Anyhow, that reminded me of this picture from the 1980s, when the triangle was last tackled... the barrow is now a little rusty, but the rest of us are in fine fettle (I hope!).
