Cathy, that rocks cartoon is great and it chimes with my own experiences. As a collector of rocks and minerals over the years I've usually worn an old but very sturdy anorak with lots of pockets, as well as a rucksack. It's easier to pop a rock into an anorak pocket than keep taking off the rucksack to fill it. I wouldn't dare put rocks in my trouser pockets - these days my trouser belt is below my ample tummy and it's difficult enough keeping them up when the pockets are empty!
