Yesterday afternoon was dry but cool and breezy with a sharp chill. At 20:00 it was still the same and there was no change first thing this morning except the wind is more blustery. I've been out to check and it is still the same. The glass is down on 1017mb and the forecast is for light rain to come in around 08:00 and last until midday when we will dry up and have an overcast afternoon. The constant WSW wind is brisk and gusts to over 45mph giving us a high of 9C and a low of 6C tonight with a -4C wind chill all day. The outlook is for similar weather and still heavy rain forecast for Tuesday and Thursday. On the whole though it is warmer than usual at this time of the year so we should be grateful. In 1947 the snow started at about this time of the year and lasted into mid March. It was the worst winter I can remember. Nothing like that thank God!

Yesterday afternoon stayed dry but was very windy. At 20:00 it was still overcast, dry and we had a very gusty wind that persisted all night. First thing this morning it was still windy, overcast and dry and it hasn't changed since. The glass is down on 1014mb and falling slowly. The forecast is for overcast all day with light rain from 11:00 onwards and this will last until midnight. The constant WSW wind is brisk and gusts to 45mph almost any time during the day. This gives us a high of 8C and a low of 8C tonight with up to a -5C wind chill all day. The outlook is for one more mild day tomorrow and then a drop in temperature to more seasonal levels. Frost and snow feature in the outlook for the next six days!

We had stronger and more persistent wind yesterday than during any of the recent named storms. A brief lull is expected this morning then wild again later and through the night.

Ours yesterday and this morning as well was at least as violent as the named storms. Having said that, at the moment we have a lull.....

Light but wetting rain has come in slightly earlier than forecast. That answers the question about going for a walk!

I set out intending to walk, Col was going to drop me off at the end of Warley Wise Lane so I could walk a circuit round the lanes but after I had got soaked just putting the binbag out at the roadside I quickly changed my mind! I got blasted with bitterly cold wind and rain just walking back home.

We’ve been out for a walk into Longridge, fine most of the way, then light rain, hardly any wind at all.

A bit early to be certain but the Met Office have issued a warning for snow on Thursday.

Yesterday afternoon settled down to being wet and windy. At 20:00 it had stopped raining but the wind was gusting fiercely. Very windy during the night and the same this morning but dry. The glass has fallen sharply to 1000mb and the forecast is for heavy rain to start soon and persist until dusk. It's still dry at the moment. The WSW wind is gusting to 50mph at the moment but will gradually decrease until by noon it is just reasonable gusts. The high will be 9C and the low tonight -1C with as much as -5C wind chill during the day. The six day outlook tells the story.... From tomorrow onwards we are back to winter with a chance of snow Wednesday and Thursday. More like the seasonal norm!

It's definitely windy, my bin has blown over, the lid is still on so all is good. Not too keen on going out and righting it but I'm concerned the bin man won't empty it.

It’s been very windy here during the night, and is raining and still quite breezy this morning.

I've only just come back down from second sleep. Couldn't see any pressing reason for leaving a warm bed!
I've just popped me head out, it's not actually raining at the moment but still windy.

Yesterday afternoon dried up a bit sooner than forecast. At 20:00 it was overcast but dry and only a light breeze. This morning first thing it was overcast, calm and dry and cooler than of late. It hasn't changed since. The glass has risen slightly to 1003mb. The forecast is for a dry day that starts overcast and perhaps improves to sunny intervals. The winds are light and variable tending perhaps towards being westerly later. We can expect a high of 5C and a low tonight of -1C. The wind chill will perhaps reach -3C at times. The outlook is for cooler weather and perhaps sleet and snow for a couple of days....

I rang Ian at Garlick's about my oven bulbs and they had just come in, he said he'd bring them round. I told him not to bother, it was time I got out of the house for a walk so I walked across and got them. I had a sit on the bench at the end of Albert Road, it was cold but supportable as there was no wind. I am back home now and the sun has come out. It might be a few days before we have such a good day as this!

Yesterday afternoon stayed dry, bright and pleasant. At 20:00 it was dry but overcast. First thing this morning we had a light breeze, an overcast sky and it was dry. It hasn't changed since. The glass is down again on 998mb and falling. The forecast is for a snow shower at around 06:00 and then a lull until 08:00 when snow will start again and persist for the rest of the day. The constant brisk East wind gusts to 40mph later and might indicate drifting. Our high will be 1C during the day and 0C tonight with a wind chill of up to -6C giving us a taste of winter as it will feel like well below freezing all day. The outlook is for the temperature to rise to 5C tomorrow and stay at that level or above for the rest of the week. It looks as though this clap of snow is to be short lived.
Later at 07:30. No sign of snow yet.... :biggrin2:

Sorry to hear that Wendy and yes, you are right, it's going to go quickly today I think with rain and higher temperatures.
The light snow never ceased yesterday and it was still the same at 20:00. This morning we still have light snow but it is wet and not accumulating. The glass fell all day yesterday and this morning is down on 972mb. The forecast is for the snow to cease at about 06:00 and it will be replaced by sleet changing to rain and apart from a short lull this morning to enjoy some fog we shall have rain all day. The East wind is constant and starts moderate but decreases all day. The temperature will rise slowly all day and we shall have a high of 5C and a low of 3 tonight. The wind chill is -6C at the moment but drops all day to -3C this evening. The outlook is for warmer weather and less rain, we can expect 8C tomorrow. It's February!
Later at 04:00 the glass is still falling and is down now on 971mb.

The bit of snow we had which managed to stick has all gone, all we’ve got now is a light drizzle.

Yesterday afternoon gave us light rain and a thaw which by 20:00 had cleared the snow and given us a dry calm evening. First thing this morning it was calm, overcast and dry with evidence of a shower during the night. It is milder and hasn't changed since. The glass got down to the extremely low value of 969mb yesterday and this morning is on 973mb and rising. The forecast is for an overcast but dry day with perhaps a light shower later this afternoon. The Easterly wind is light and gives us a high of 7C and a low of 4C tonight with a light wind chill of -2C. The six day outlook is for similar but wetter weather getting warmer as the week progresses.

Those temperatures are half a world away from ours Cathy.
Today we have 7C which for us is, in February, sub-tropical!
