Fortunately she is mending up. Worst was two bites either side of one knee, looked like it might have swelled up and gone bad but I think she has got away with it this time. One on the back of her upper arm has survived also, luckily not the arm with no lymph nodes.

I picked up a few ticks on our wanderings around Ardnamurchan which I didn't expect as I was well covered.

They were only tiny when I found the ones on my legs, it was only when I got home and straight in the shower that I noticed something nasty near my shoulder! Luckily we have a tick puller in the house for pets and that worked a treat! The next day I spotted a big one on my little cat which must have been there for a while, that came out easily too. She doesn't wander far from the garden so they are definitely more prevalent this year. Keep checking after a walk in the fields, especially if you are bare legged.

I hate ticks. The very thought makes me squirm!
Ever come across one of THESE ?

The QI Elves were on the breakfast show on the radio this morning and shed a bit of light on that statement. Apparently biting insects prefer hosts with type O blood! My blood group is A rhesus positive which they said was proved to be a deterrent to most biting insects. Works for me anyway. Sally is not type O either.

My late son in law Big Harry told me that the chief attractant for insects was carbon dioxide. Bad news for all of us as we naturally breathe it out!
