Cathy, there's a place in East Yorkshire called Land of Nod.

There are two tiny villages (hamlets) near where we lived in the Somerset Levels, one called Beer and the other called Stout. Some visitors to us from `up North' are known to have made detours because they couldn't resist visiting them. But to their disappointment they don't have pubs!

And talking of place names, my daughter has been house/pet sitting in Wiltshire. On her walks she has come across ‘Kent’s Bottom’ and ‘Tiddlywinks’.

A friend of mine lived in a small isolated group of houses at the end of a long lane. The developer had called the Hamlet 'Farthings'. (Far Things?)
