Unusually, I was hungry yesterday morning and so I pushed the boat out and had two cold Scotch eggs! For tea I had Breaded cod fillet peas and fried the last tin of new potatoes.... (I know but I hate waste!) Nuts and an apple for afters....

I've made a big pot of Braised Steak and Onions. Our neighbours move in today ( father and son) and if I catch them between lugging boxes, I might ask if they want to pop to ours for a quick meal. Everyone gets so hungry on moving day, and so tired by the end of it. They won't have any energy to bother cooking (and with brand new appliances they may not know how to work the stove!).
I will also suggest getting their beds made up. I have moved a lot, and it's always good to fall into bed, without having to find sheets and pillows when you are dead on your feet...

I agree Maz. Always a bummer when you have washed the bedding to realise when you go to bed you haven't put the duvet covers on! One of my least favourite jobs.....

I had bacon egg and beans for dinner and picked on half a small BBQ chicken for tea..... Nuts and an apple for afters. During the day I slow cooked a leg of mutton with mint from the front garden.

Meatballs in tomato sauce topped with mozzarella cheese.

The mutton is defatted, deboned and cut into bite size chunks and back in the stock coming back up to temperature slowly. On the stove Carrots, parsnips, celery, broccoli and cabbage are cooking and I have a pan of dried peas cooking as well, I want to use mushy peas to thicken the mutton stew.

A Veg Bake, with Chicken.
I found it filling, but hubby is snacking tonight, which is not good.
It is a fine line between feeding him a meal that sustains him through the evening, and a meal that leaves him snacking afterward. ( I don't like him snacking after dinner unless it is sugar free sweets). Tonight is a failure....
Then again, we all have "hungry days"...and so long as we do good most days, perhaps it's not worth beating ourselves up over..
What I really hate, is when he blames me when he over eats. It's not my problem.

He needs to eat more fat Maz!! It fills you up and you don't get hungry afterwards.

:laugh5: he had scoffed some full fat yoghurt, Wendy.
( it was my yoghurt actually. I ask him every week at the supermarket if he wants yoghurt. He always says No...so I buy some for me...then share it with him.)
Alaskan Salmon tonight..

Mushy peas and veggies for dinner, mutton and veggies for tea when it had started to come on song. Nuts for afters, no apple.

Not sure if he is doomed Wendy but as you know I have always been a fan of natural saturated fat. I never bought the conspiracy against it, the Industrial Revolution and my working life were fuelled by it, the difference being of course that we burned it off with hard work. Now, thanks to you I realise that the culprit I hadn't identified was carbohydrates and have taken the necessary action and got the improvement. Keep nagging me!!

Well, I'm not going to tell him there is "no hope". One chilly evening with a "bust loose" appetite does not a failure make.
:biggrin2: he has done better tonight. ( not perfect, but we have had a big day and he has done much better)
In reality, we eat less than most folk I think. We certainly eat much less than our kids. When we have them for dinner, we look like we are on children's portions...

Aye...no problems, Wendy.
A big bowl of homemade Veg Soup has him back on track tonight. He seems to have settled back to a normal pattern of eating. (I couldn't finish my Soup, but I seem to be on a "not hungry at all" day)
Funny how we have "different" days. I think it is wise to just listen to your body, and adjust intake accordingly.

Mutton and veggies X two for dinner and tea. I'll admit it isn't ideal summer food but I'm emptying the freezer.....

From Lidl?
Aldi also do a pack of 5 85%, they're individually wrapped 20g portions. Limited self control required :laugh5: :good:

Yes, Col has the 85% but it's a bit powerful for me!

We have it from time to time. I quite like taking a nibble and having a cup of coffee.
However, things go in cycles, and we both aren't enjoying coffee at all at present. I have 2 cups in the morning, but am back to a pot of "proper made" tea at lunch, and then plain old WATER from lunchtime until the next morning.
I love water, and can see a day coming when I abandon all other beverages! ( it will be sad to see the red wine go, but one has to listen to ones body...).
