The best laid schemes..... No chance of getting in the shed. I have been glue to the Flying Machine all morning as messages flood in. Who says Crumblies can't hack technology!

Still trying for distraction in the shed but I am snowed under with messages and visitors..... People are wonderful!

I've worked out a routine for the comms and am managing better. I got two hours in the shed yesterday. Aiming for the same or better today. Still sad of course but the continuing reassuring news from Oz is helping..... It's a learning curve and I think I am growing up!

It's hard to grow up at times like these. What is growing up anyway Stanley
Today is a walking day with Pilates tonight. The old body is aching from a return to organised activity, plus I hate to say lots of cleaning at the cottage in Anglesey. We are between tenants and wondering why it is taking so long to re-let we visited last Saturday to find a rather dirty cottage. I don't think the floors had been washed in the year our tenant was there. I have steamed and scrubbed and scrubbed and steamed the kitchen floor for over three hours and to my eye it still looks grubby. The bathroom was no better. We have had words with our letting agents who said the cottage did not need a commercial clean and was ready to let out.

We had to evict one tenant after she stopped paying the rent. The place was an absolute mess and when we got the painter in to make it liveable again he discovered that she was a drug user. All the used syringes had been dropped down the cavity behind the wall oven. And horror of horrors he admitted that he had removed as many as he could and disposed of them in the recycle bin. Thank goodness for landlords insurance.

At the moment (touch wood) we have no problems with our rental properties. We think we have seen it all though, and I can tell you (hand on heart) that I have scrubbed more **** than most women.

Sue, my version of 'growing up' is the ability to apply your experience.... and you're right, it can be a hard row to hoe!
Dirty tenants.... I sympathise with you. I'm not the best housekeeper in the world but I am a good tenant!
Today I shall be preparing for the visit tomorrow by the NE Mafia, my mates off Shed Matters. They are bringing goodies for me and taking away two engines and other goodies. It should be a nice visit! I need all the distraction I can get....

In that case I must be on the right lines. Thanks for the affirmation!
Today I shall enjoy my mates but with one ear cocked for the phone and the comms.... I shall buy meat pies for their lunch!

I won't have time to post this tomorrow. Tomorrow I will be going to London with my mother and daughter to see an exhibition on sunken cities in Egypt. It promises to be great.

You reminded me that I finished the Glenfiddich yesterday and opened a fresh bottle of 16 year old Lagavulin. So I have just had a swig.... Still a superb whisky!
Today I shall be starting to sort through the pile of goodies that Mick and John brought me yesterday when they visited to pick the engines up. They brought wonderful things!

I got my goodies sorted out and put away. Today I either hang my plaque or sharpen drills, not come to a decision yet! Come to think, I am thinking of putting the plaque on the door from the kitchen to the shed. I think I'd better give the door a coat of paint first. Whatever, I shall be keeping busy!

I shall have a swim this morning as I couldn't go yesterday. This afternoon is hospice shop day. In between I shall be sewing.

I didn't sharpen milling cutters, I decided a day or two without grinding dust would be good. I started on mirror brackets for my plaque. Will finish them today and hopefully mount the plaque on the kitchen door.....
Oh! And attending to my comms.....

Be spending our last day on the beach. My Kleftico for evening meal tonight is already ordered from the Greek Tavern who only make it to order. Sally's Briam is also on special order as an off menu item. Our hosts at the Tavern made a point of thanking us last night for our custom and the opportunity to share in our choices.

Ian, they tell me the Labour conference is on here but I all I hear about is a bloke who's been cheating at football. You'd be better staying out there!

I know what kleftiko is, but briam is a new one on me. However I find
briam
Looks good - I'll try it. Someone said it's better with a couple of pork chops on top.
Yes - I'm a bit jealous.

I like the look of it! We are so unadventurous when it comes to roasting or frying vegetables. My young friend Muthomi and I were talking the other day about African cuisine and he asked if I ever fried cabbage. The answer is no but I shall be giving it a go!
The plaque is mounted on the door into the shed. Looks as though we are now into sharpening milling cutters....... And of course attending to my comms with Oz.

Attending to comms, shopping and perhaps an hour sharpening milling cutters, a long term job that can't be rushed!
