I agree with you Maz about the champagne dinner. That model railway exhibition sounds fun. I shall be taking care of the comms and doing a bit in the shed.

You'd enjoy it and probably be surprised by how much the hobby has advanced and how realistic the layouts and models are. There's also a big digital side to it all now, with operation from computers and smartphones. When there's a local exhibition on see if you can get someone to give you a lift there to see it! There one in Colne in November:
Pendle Forest Model Railway Society - Annual Model Railway Exhibition
Sat 19th November 2016 - Sun 20th November 2016
Park High School, Venables Avenue, Colne, Lancashire BB8 7DP
OPENING TIMES: SAT. 10am - 5pm. SUN 10am - 4pm
ADMISSION: Adults £4.00 Concessions £3.50 Children £2.50 Family £12.00
It will have about 12 layouts, plus a Meccano display, a demo of `3D Model Building Printing' and stalls for 5 traders: RL Models, Todmorden Tools, Direct Train Spares, Locoshed (Manchester), Ron Boxall.

Maz, things may change when Brexit kicks in! Even we may find it more difficult to go to and fro or even living there!

We have booked them in Barlick on more than one occasion for BE Bosom Friends our local cancer support group. Seen them many times on our 1940's dancing circuit also, always a good turn. Seen Peter as lead singer in more than one band from way back as well.
Did he do his "Minnie the Moocher" for you?
Yes!
One of the ladies is Daisy Thurkettle, formerly a neighbour of ours. Hence they came to Great Hockham.

The band has undergone a number of changes in lineup over the last few years, most used to be from around the Ribble Valley. We have enjoyed Peters performances since his early days when front man with the Winchesters. Multi talented musicians though and you always get a good show.

I have a different pattern of living now. My main aim is to keep communications with Oz as open and active as possible so that they all know I am poised to reply immediately. Whatsapp is brilliant for this and I can have conversations in real time. I'm talking to Margaret as I write this. Any time in the shed is snatched!

Son collected his Labrador today. She has been with us since Monday, and they went Glampng. ( they enjoyed themselves by all accounts). Dog has been a joy to have...easy to please/doesn't bark/loves her walks and her food/don't hear a peep out of her at night.
She drops bucket loads of hair, but we are all ship shape now. I could knit myself a pup from the hair she left behind and it will keep coming back for a few days yet.
She has only been here a few days, but I keep forgetting she has gone home and I find myself expecting her to turn up next to me for one of her cuddles.
Once I put her dry food and bowl in her bag this morning, she knew she was going home, and kept watch at the front door for her "Daddy".

All the time I was laid up in bed I was aware of the blanket of dog hair that would be forming all over the house...the first thing I did when I ventured downstairs was to get the vacuum out!
It's the time of year when I need to start bringing the ponies into the barn at night. My neighbours are having a bonfire and fireworks tonight, then there is a whole week of firework opportunities so it's best to make sure the ponies are safe inside. This morning I need to do a bit of clearing up in the stables to get things ready. This afternoon I'm going on a guided tour of an abandoned Victorian cemetery in Skipton which is being re-discovered and restored.
Janis Heward is the archaeologist on the project so I will be able to give her the Glasshouses information at last Stanley.

Oooo... Wendy... I'd give my eye teeth for a proper trip to a Victorian Cemetery.
Right up my alley!
I am very drawn to such things. I saw a few desolate looking cemeteries on our trip North and longed to have a little walk through ( all red earth and dust and not a blade of grass). Hubby is quite accommodating for family research, but not just for curiosity sake. So I didn't dare ask...

Burial grounds can be so rewarding.... Raikes Road.... That's not far from the old workhouse isn't it? Any pauper graves in there?
I shall be attending to the comms, trying for time in the shed and Watching the Mexico GP.....

The burial ground is on the Grassington Road and the workhouse was on Gargrave Road, but they aren't far from each other. There were about 2600 burials there over a 40 year period between the church burial ground filling up and Waltonwrays opening so no doubt plenty of paupers went in there along with the great and good of Skipton. All records have been lost, but archaeology has uncovered signs of an underground mortuary and a small chapel.

The workhouse became a hospital, where my mum spent 20 years (she had MS), before it closed and was turned into flats.

Twenty years in hospital Moh..... We forget that that was the only route then.
Boring I know but close attention to comms and some time in the shed. Enjoyed the Mexican GP last night......

We seem to be strangely free from them this year, good job! They get short shrift from me, I hate the importation of it from the US simply to generate trade. It's a con trick!
I know it's a mistake saying this but up to now Jack hasn't been bothered by fireworks. He can hear a banger a mile away even when he is in the house.
Comms as usual and some time in the shed!
