Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was very much as forecast, sunny spells but interspersed with light showers of rain. In the late afternoon we had more contiguous sunshine but by 20:00 we had sunk back into overcast with only occasional flashes of sun beneath the cloud. This morning it's breezy with a broken overcast. The glass is steady on just over 1001mb and the forecast is for a dry day with sunny intervals. The constant west wind is moderate and is gusting to 30mph at the moment. Our high will be 14C today and a low of 8C tonight with a -3C wind chill almost all day. The outlook is for similar weather until Monday when it starts to warm up a bit.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was windy but on the whole dry and sunny. At 20:00 it was overcast and there was no late sun. This morning we have a light breeze and broken overcast but it's dry. The glass is down on 995mb and the forecast is very similar to yesterday, perhaps a light shower or two around midday. The mainly NW wind starts light but increases all day gusting to 30mph this afternoon. The high will be 14C and the low 9C with a -3C wind chill this afternoon. The outlook, one more day of cool weather and then we might start to see things warm up from Monday onwards!

.
Can’t complain about our bright days , but Oh!! The Wind.
The average is 21km/h and we often have Wind Gusts of up to 47km/h. Makes it chilly.
We are getting cooler with a bit of rain, towards the end of our week.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
On the whole you are still warmer than us Cathy but there is a chance that from Monday onwards we will improve.
It's about time, the days are shortening and we can see the end of the summer coming down the road towards us.
(but we don't have hurricanes and wild fires.... )

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was drier than forecast on the whole but the wind cooled things down, OK if you were out of it. Late afternoon we slipped under the cloud again and there was no late sun at 20:00 when I went to bed. This morning first thing it was calm and dry under an overcast sky but there was evidence of a very light shower during the night. It hasn't changed since. The glass has risen and is on 1000mb, the forecast is for an overcast but dry morning and then sunny intervals and showers this afternoon. The mainly SW wind will be light and gives us a high of 14C and a low tonight of 7C with a fairly constant -2C wind chill. The outlook is for it to be warmer but Tuesday and Wednesday will be wet. After that we could see a general warming up. Perhaps there is hope of some summer weather yet!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon the rain had stopped by 16:00 and at 20:00 we had late sunshine. First thing this morning it was calm clear and cool and so far it hasn't changed. the glass is up on 1008mb and the forecast is for a dry day with plenty of sunshine. The westerly winds will be light and give us a high of 18C and a low of 13C tonight with negligible wind chill. It will be warm and wet tomorrow and then the week settles down into cooler, grey and uninteresting weather.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was an improvement in the weather but in the late afternoon it deteriorated to overcast again before recovering slightly and giving us late sun at 20:00. This morning first thing it was just starting to rain, an hour later and we still have a calm morning with light rain coming in from the east, normally a dry quarter. The glass is steady on 1010mb and the forecast is simply heavy rain all day.
The east winds are constant and moderate gusting to 30mph, giving a high of 19C and a low of 14C tonight with a wind chill that will reach -3C when the wind is strongest. The outlook is for cooler but drier weather. No sign as yet of any summer weather. The jet stream is protecting us from the excessive heat in Southern Europe but depriving us of pleasant summer weather. We might be seeing a pattern for the future....
Later at 07:00. We have steady significant rain.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon the rain was constant until about 04:00 and then it finally petered out leaving us with a grey overcast that persisted well after 20:00. I was struck by how mild and humid it was, ideal growing weather. First thing this morning it was calm, mild, dry and overcast, it hasn't changed since. The glass is down on 1003mb and the forecast is overcast with rain starting late morning and persisting for the rest of the day. The southerly winds will be light and give us a high of 18C and a low tonight of 11C with perhaps a -2C wind chill at times this afternoon. The outlook is for drier weather but dull, cooler for the next three days and then the temperature starts to build again. No sign of high summer.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
That's worse weather than us Cathy......
Yesterday was a rerun of the day before, basically heavy overcast all day, spatters of rain in the afternoon and no late sun at 20:00. This morning it's calm, cool and overcast but dry and there has been no rain in the night. The glass is up on 1016mb and the forecast is once more, light rain from noon onwards. The constant northerly breeze will be light and gives us a high of 15C during the day and 10C tonight with a negligible wind chill. We can expect another cool overcast day tomorrow and then the weather starts to brighten and warm up slightly but perhaps with the odd light shower. Better but not high summer!
