Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Is it true that David Cameron has sold Manchester to the Chinese?

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Not the whole of Manchester, just Manchester City football club.....
I was watching a programme on the Scottish Isles and the presenter visited Gigha. He interviewed a man farming there who originated in Gargrave. Unless I am very much mistaken this man, John Earnshaw, is the son of John senior and they farmed at Little Stainton. I picked their milk up. At that time his grandfather was still alive and I have an idea he was called John as well.

Someone on the radio this morning saying that Bricklehampton is the longest place name in the UK with no repeated letters....oh dear, it seems to beat Barnoldswick!
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Sunset was at 7.37pm tonight, it's now dark and 8.15pm (still in the mid 20C's), and I've had no Halloween callers here tonight. The local kids must have heard about 'that mad woman ' who lives at number 5 who doesn't like kids and other peoples animals to enter her front garden haha... Actually no, I just live in an area with less ferals/bogans than you know who...

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Do you have Halloween a week earlier than us?
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
All Hallows Eve surely is a fixed date, the last day in October, how come you have it a week early?
Ian
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
We don't have it a week early.
That's why I was so taken aback with the neighbour's printed leaflet telling us to be prepared for her darling children on Halloween night. She listed the route they would take, so I presume this printed leaflet went in every letter box on the route! Unbelievable!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Saw my first 'kids Segway platform' yesterday. Also described as a ' two wheel self balancing scooter or hoverboard'. Priced between £200 and £500 they are not exactly a cheap toy. A young boy quietly rolling up a slight incline making it look all so easy. I know Segway make a full range of moving platforms but I think we are going to see a lot more of this technology moving into our daily lives. Link.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Thanks Moh, I'll accept that as a very good explanation.
I feel much better now.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Cathy it is obviously all the fault of Marilyn's ridiculous neighbour...not only has she caused distress to Maz & Febby she has caused serious confusion on a world wide scale. How thoughtless.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Plaques, I want one of those! I think they look like great fun.
Sorry if I had you locking the door and pulling the curtains Cazza. I wasn't confused about the date at all - this neighbour was obviously preparing well in advance. Even if I knew her kids, which I don't (!), was I expected to put sweets aside for them seperate to sweets for the other sixty or seventy kids that may knock ( given the circus last year)?
How neglectful she didn't provide a photo of said kids on her leaflet.
Every time I walk past this woman's house on our walks now I feel a bit weird. I don't dare glance sideways....

It isn't Halloween that bothers me and Jack, it's Guy Fawkes. He heard his first firework of the season the night before last.... They belong to the devil!
The usual glitch on the site that you have to alter the Board Preferences in your control panel to switch Summer Time off. It's under board preferences in the panel.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I'm pleased to report that this year we won't be at home for the Halloween door knockers. Next Saturday we set off on a slow trip to Victor Harbour and then along the Murray River for a few weeks. I love holidays in my caravan.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
The proposal submitted to the council for a major build of 148 houses on the Barnsey site and adjacent field has generated a lot of comment over on the Barnoldswick Talk FB page. One of them is this very issue about when the contractors are going to finish the development at Robinson Fold.
For my two pennorth on the proposal, I think it's an excellent idea, the former mill site has laid barren for 20 years. A major housing development is to be welcomed, far better there than the various proposals for building on green fields. Suitable riders could be put on a development of this size to add to town infrastructure enhancement, thinking maybe down the lines of education and medical/health centre provision.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
The first house I lived in which was bought new the year i was born, 1936, had no made up road until after the war because the developer had banked.
Sounds like a good trip Liz, enjoy!
My head is still on BST. Up an hour early this morning.... It will soon readjust!
Later... I think that Talktalk, while they still have questions to answer, are getting the dirty end of the stick at the moment. The customers who are reporting bank accounts being attacked are not victims because of the attack on Talktalk (and let's not forget that this is exactly what happened, an illegal and criminal hack) but caught by bog standard phishing perhaps made easier by previous attacks on Talktalk. That's what the attempt on me was and even though they almost caught me with the scam to get control of my computer, there is no way I would have given out details of my bank accounts over the phone on a cold call. As for the ones who had their banks details on their computer, not something I would ever do. If I want to talk to my bank I send them a letter!

Doc and Carole are in sight of Lanzarote after an uneventful 650 mile journey. Doc reports it as flat calm with a maximum wind speed over the five days of 8 knots, they had to use the engines from time to time.

William won.
