Dead right P. A jack is only as good as the support under it!
David, it's modern, I suspect not big enough to be a dehumidifier. Is it an ioniser for improving air quality?

None of the above...
Ian is vaguely in the territory with disco though.

Do I win the car or the holiday?
Or is there a cash option?

Neither. Instead have a think about this object that Tripps has sent in.

Looks like someone's Grandpa helped them with bits from his shed toward a "sculpture" for "show and tell" at school.

I agree Maz! The first thing I thought of was a quirky engineer's set of book ends. No doubt Dave will watch the topic and put us straight....

Well done Maz - you're on a run.

I liked the other answers too.
However - someones Grandpa was
Sir Anthony Caro, and this piece named "Little Stamp Book" sold this week at a London auction for a hammer price of only £12500. There's 30% commission (including VAT) - not to mention 4% for Artists Resale Rights, to add to that.
Stanley - it's not too late. Get stuck into the
scrap treasure box, and start the 'Northern Powerhouse' school of sculpture.

Funny you should say that but it occurred to me when I saw it. Another funny that has been lurking at the back of my mind is a door knocker.....
I've often said that my engines are a form of sculpture.....

Difficult without seeing the size but we used to use something similar to put on a horse to stop it biting.
