Thanks for that Ian....
Slept half an hour longer, body clock is adjusting.
See THIS for a BBC report of the arrest of a 15 year old boy suspected of hacking the Talktalk website.... The company website is still down 6 days after the attack.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Just had a thought that if it does turn out to be the 15 year old, that would probably put him very well placed for recruitment by MI6 after a bit of a slap, probably about right..

Continuing the theme of never operating at a lower tech level than that available - here's a blow for common sense. Note the very trendy small letter i. From the Yorkshire Post of course.
Morrisons stopped using the Intelligent Queue Management (iQM) system in its stores, which had been introduced by Mr Philips. The system was used to determine how many checkouts to keep open at the Bradford-based retailer’s supermarkets, using infrared sensors that showed how many customers were flowing through the store. Now checkout teams use their eye and experience to meet their customers’ needs.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I like that....
Many years ago a man called Mr Bishop used to sit in an office in I think it was Stoke on Trent. He worked for the Milk Marketing Board and his job was to take in reports from dairies about their milk surpluses and allocate them to other dairies in the region. He was brilliant and very reliable, we usually had our destinations by early afternoon when I was tanking milk. Some bright spark decided to use what I assume was an early computerised system. They put it in place and there was the most glorious cock-up. Tankers loaded with milk wandering all over the region looking for a dairy with space in their tanks to accept the milk. Within a week Mr Bishop and his pencil were in charge again.....

I like the 'how could you forget to shave' pic. I've met that warrant officer many times......
See THIS for a BBC report on the collapsed charity Kid's Company. £46million put in even though there were serious doubts about their management. That lady must be a Jedi. She seems to have been able to use the force on men......
The fact that one pair of my trusty Hebden Bridge corduroy trousers gave up the ghost and developed a hole in the left knee. Unlike the modern youngsters who seem to ignore this I read the funeral service and binned them. So sad when an old and trusted item of clothing reaches its bin-by date!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
That's interesting about the left knee going in your old trousers - I was painting yesterday and the left knee tore in my old denim jeans. It must have been a bad day for trouser left knees!

I can add that yesterday Sally noticed I had two holes in the backside of my Wrangler jeans, the kitchen refurb has already seen the knees out of another pair as well.

Could it be an outbreak of CTF? (Chronic Trouser Fatigue)
I shame to say I once bought a pair of trainers.... They got binned within two months. Can't imagine what they do to your feet if worn regularly.....
See THIS for a report on a cartel in Chile which artificially raised the price of toilet paper. Have they no shame? Is this yet another area we have to worry about?
I heard a conversation on R4 about communication yesterday and was reminded of the time I met Stafford Beers at Manchester Business School. Too long to post here and I can't find it on the site so I shall post it....

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I can live without smartphones and Ipads but I can't live without trainers, denim trousers, fleece jackets and anoraks. Some people say trainers are too hot but I think they're probably tightening the laces too much. There's got to be `breathing space' left in the shoes.
This scaled down railway wagon was on the Lord & Butler stand at a model railway exhibition in Taunton last weekend. It's an old apprentice piece and was found in a skip and passed on to the retailer who is based in South Wales.

There was a similar coal truck on Antiques Roadshow the other day. They never mentioned it could be an apprentice piece but that makes sense.
Posting pics is much faster on fibre isn't it......
Sudden funny pain in a major tendon in my groin.... It's worn off now but was a bugger. Funny where these things pop up from.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I've had leather trainers in the past and they've been very comfortable. I made the mistake of buying 'man-made' material trainers once, wore them for a day then put them in a charity shop.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Now that really is exciting news.... (I shall not be rushing out to buy one...)
I got some pleasing news this morning. There was a good turnout of 40 members at the Ellenroad AGM last night and a motion that I be given an Honorary Life Membership was passed with no dissent. I wait to hear direct from the committee but that's nice.... I may have come in from the cold!

The new loo brush... ?? They look more like the utensil that you use for getting cooked Pasta out of the boiling water.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
This afternoon, I was waiting at the traffic lights at the corner of Northampton Street and Castle Street when I saw a familiar figure. I rather rudely stared at him, and for a second he stared back. It was the former Archbishop of Canterbury - Rowan Williams. He was with a lady, and he's very tall. Speaking of loo brushes - I'd say he goes to the same hairdresser as Boris Johnson.
Checked him out, and seems he is now Master of Magdalene College, and that's just round the corner from where I saw him.

How boring the Mexican GP was now that the major prizes are assured.
Michelle Payne becomes the first woman to win the Melbourne Cup on a rank outsider at 100-1! (LINK)
See THIS for a report that UK export growth is at its lowest for six years. Not good news for the 'economic miracle'.
