Salterforth Nurseries had a good selection Wendy, we got ours from there, bit more than a tenner though for one that suited the ex professional Christmas decoration fairy that I am married to.

This morning I'll be keeping out of the way while the carpetfitters put down a new carpet in our living room (lounge, sitting room, whatever it's called these days). It all started by me saying that our 20-year-old carpet had a felt underlayer and we'd be better with the modern foam insulating underlayers made from recycled plastic. The room has a concrete floor and that conducts heat away quickly. The carpet needed replacing too - the long room has doors both ends taking all the traffic from the bedroom/bathroom end of the house to the kitchen end. So we chose an underlayer and carpet with high ratings. It won't make much difference to our heating bill but will make the room feel more comfortable by keeping the carpet and air around our feet feeling warmer.

You won't regret it.... Every time I go into my bathroom I wish all the carpets in the house felt the same!
Today I shall be doing a bit of last minute prescription filling and fruit shopping, playing in the shed and keeping a close eye on Oz, the news this morning is disturbing.....

Main thing today is monitoring comms from Oz. Otherwise, butcher's and sprouts and distracting my brain in the shed.

Keeping busy and treasuring memories.....

Doing as much prep. for tomorrow - although we are going to our granddaughters I do the turkey and trimmings and Kelly does the veg. spuds., sweet etc.

Keeping in touch with the Kids.... A bit of shed and a lot of replying to supportive mail. Apart from that, watching and waiting.....

And from me. Have a good day. After a day with grandchildren in Coventry yesterday, it's a day in Ramsbottom with Our other daughter and family today. It was a quiet drive back yesterday evening

Having family round for dinner, stopping Samuel-the-spanuel from meeting mother (they wouldn't understand each other), and cooking goose. Happy Christmas everyone.

Going to our daughter Carla's for dinner and into the mayhem of two grandchildren and the over active Spaniel that is Hettie, should be fun. Jack is coming round to ours for breakfast at some point then over to Silsden. We are taking sprouts, nut roast and the chocolate puddings (yet to be made) and 3 chairs, all the rest by the Silsden crew.

Not much I can say to that. Make the best of the day and look after yourself.

Today will be the same Kev. Janet is slowing down, not long now.... Lots of watching and waiting and a bit of reading and shed..... My head is 10,000 miles away.

Soaking up the news and looking for normality so I'll be sticking to routines and getting into the shed to distract me. I think I am OK, time will tell!

Of course you are - you're a born survivor.

I've always told the kids not to worry about me because I am a tough old bugger. It may be true. I am doing OK I think but being very careful, I know about life events and them making you accident prone! Amazing how quietly working on a ticklish bit of machining in the shed can keep you on an even keel. It's the concentration I think.....

Making quiet but steady progress on the Fieldhouse Winding Engine. That, plus my normal routines looking after myself and Jack are life savers!

Friday is butcher's day and BET posting. Today is complicated by the obituary. However I hope to get some shed time where I am moving forwards slowly but with purpose!

Keeping up with the comms and enjoying myself in the shed solving the problem of the secondary bed.....

Happy New Year to all. I love a fresh start and have plans for 2017, the start of 2016 wasn't so good so I lost direction a bit. Seconds away, round one!
