Ah, but have you counted the benefit of having your presence in the house?

Jack says he enjoyed your visit, lots of different smells on your legs. I think it may be the horses. I never noticed..... Keep the weights slightly greasy, being steel they rust easily. Furniture polish would be good....

You know how to flatter a woman Stanley...those were my walking trousers so they don't get near the horses, fresh air and dogs should be all he was sniffing!

Just as I was writing this post a large military helicopter grabbed my attention. It passed right in front of my upstairs dormer window, very close, and I swivelled round on my computer chair to watch it. Being right by the window I rested my hands on the radiator below the window. As the helicopter passed at its closest point the radiator was shaking dramatically. Afterwards I looked at it, thinking it needed tightening up on its brackets. There was no free movement in the radiator. It's on a timber frame dormer wall and it had been the wall shaking, not the radiator! We're used to big aircraft, noise and vibrations but I've never experienced such a high amplitude of shaking, especially in the structure of the house walls.

Bowel screening letter from the NHS, (poo sticks) as I like to call it.

It's that time again, kit to follow shortly, the joys of being 60 something.

Kev; likely that the waterworks problems will be with the pumping station at the end of Calf Hall Road...

I can't cope with this, it's all too much for a bear of small brain....poo sticks, bowel screening, waterworks problems - sounds like it should be the Medical Matters thread!

There wasn't anything to miss as far as I could see.... Are YW going into overkill mode with their warnings like the Met Office?
My auto-darkening welding screen arrived and it's dry at the moment. I might be able to have a play out in the back yard in my new screen and leather apron. Hope it doesn't frighten the passers by!
Some unkind people might regard it as an improvement.....

They're all a bit psychedelic Liz, some are even more way out than this. It's very light and comfortable. If it solves my problems seeing the arc it will be a winner all round. That's always been my downfall when welding....

Bringing Stanley back to earth...
The higher properties in Barlick get their water from a pump fed supply; the pumps are in the Yorks Water property at the junction of Calf Hall Road and Walmsgate. There's been a couple of times this winter when they've had problems with electric and the pumps have failed. My assumption is that the rest of town have a gravity fed supply?

When the main supply was the waterworks at Whitemoor there was no problem with any area in Barlick that had mains water supply, plenty of head.

But probably nowhere near the quantity to cope with the 12000 people using it...

Doc and crew made it across the Atlantic on February 3rd. They have moved on another 100 miles on an overnight sail and are now in St Lucia.

Sounds like a war zone outside, just the locals celebrating Chinese New Year's Eve with fireworks as only the Chinese do. Another 2 hours to go to midnight and then the sky will really light up. Not a place your Jack would like, Stanley.

Kev, it served us well when the population was 10.000. I think the problem these days is that we use more water, Friday night as bath night is a thing of the past.
Ian, thanks for that....
China, dead right, he would not be amused.
John and Mick having a bad pour as they cast the cylinders for my engines. As John said, "If it was easy everyone would be doing it!". They know what was wrong and will have another crack during the week. Good lads!

One day hopefully, I wont have to spell my name out all the time, and often correct it.

My Tee slot cutter had lost its edge so I had the options of carrying on, very slowly or stopping, setting the grinder up and resharpening. By the time I realised it was the cutter I was half way through so I carried on. Stressful but successful....
