I like it! Nice and plain but solid looking. Will you be having a real fire? I think we have a cast iron surround somewhere that came out of Craig's house in Colne that would look good sat in there.....

no worries Wendy. There's no fire going in, there will be a glass door with the satellite receiver, surround sound amp and a hifi in there. It's all currently on top of a tall cabinet that's in one of the alcoves.

Not quite a project unless giving stuff away fits someones needs. An explanation is needed.
Some years ago Mrs P's cousin in the days before film streaming would download films through premium sites and pass a copy on to us. We now have 50 CDs of such now rather mid vintage films. She never watches them twice and I don't what films or TV in case they upset my delicate fine tuned brain.

A rough render on the brickwork and I've moved the TV and associated cabling. Kept me out of mischief for a couple of hours, time for a tidy up.

It's only leaning on the wall but my bargain surround looks the part. In case anyone's wondering, that's a Humax Freesat box standing on a concrete block in the fireplace

You're right, it does look the part and I like the fact you have retained the encaustic tiles.....

The tiles were under the concrete hearth. I'm leaving them in place but they will be covered up by an oak laminate floor.

Things are moving at a quick rate, getting the new radiator on Thursday morning so should be ready for decorating by the weekend. Had a result today, 17sqm of oak laminate flooring brand new still boxed for £70. A Facebook Marketplace bargain.

First day off shift and it's been wallpaper shopping at the Graham and Brown Factory Shop in Padiham. Dropped in at Nelson Screwfix to collect the new radiator and associated pipe and fittings. Got a bit of preparation to do before fitting the radiator in it's new location under the window, I have some reflective foil insulation to stick to the wall. This is a much easier job than retrofitting behind existing rads.

I was under the impression that fitting radiators under windows was passé these days. But if Kev is doing it it must be all right!

It's the most practical place to put it, I want to put a sofa where the current one is. One of the downsides of living in a small house

Traditionally they were placed under the window as that was usually the coldest spot in the room, advances in window and insulation technology mean they can be placed almost anywhere really. The window it's going under is very efficient with argon filled double glazed units made from 'acoustic' glass, it also has a thermal roller blind which will be much easier to open and close once the old sofa is gone. Which reminds me, anyone interested in a 3 year old reclining sofa?

New rad is in and it's all back up, running and toasty warm. I'll remove the old one tomorrow and alert the local scrap man. Onwards and upwards.

Kev, would the sofa fit in a small terrace in Colne? We need one for Craig. Is yours the one that the Old Grammar School are now selling?

I've had a message from the Old Grammar School, someone has made an offer.

The cabinet is in and the first fix cabling is underway for the surround sound. Bought a decorative centre rose today, it's polyurethane so a lot lighter than plaster and I'll be fitting that tomorrow. Should be on with paint and paper on Monday. The old sofa is being collected in the morning.
A bit of fettling and it fits, need to put the rest of the kit in it and refit the glass door.

Some 'grab' adhesive and a couple of screws will soon sort this beastie.

I've put three of these up. The best adhesive was 'Sticks Like Sh*t. by Evostick. (North Valley Plumbers) I kid you not that's its trade name. Just to make sure it held up I used some garden canes as acrow props. The curved profile means the centre is stood away from the ceiling and the standard lamp holder brackets were too shallow. I made some extra deep brackets so that the metal lamp rose also clamped the polyurethane rose.
All in a ten minute days work.

I am very impressed by your ceiling rose in your lounge Ken, the Tiffany light fitting looks impressive too
I'll be using a block of timber in the centre to fix the light fitting to.
