Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I thought I saw some snow just before I went back to bed but then decided I had imagined it! I've just been out in the back yard and it's far too cold for old farts like me! I have my Lanz of Salzburg heavy woollen waistcoat on and it's wonderfully warm and comforting.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday stayed cold all day but by late afternoon the overcast was breaking a little. First thing this morning it was breezy, cold and the moon was visible through the broken overcast, it's still the same. The glass is up on 1020mb and the forecast is for a dry bright day with sunny spells. The constant ESE wind will be moderate and allows us a high of 4C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -5C for much of the day. Again it is going to feel like well below freezing for most of the day so wrap up for winter! The outlook is for another day like today and then the temperature starts rising until it is in double figures later in the week. We are being very lucky, February is usually a more cruel month than this.... We shall soon be in March and can start thinking about Spring!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was brighter and dry but overcast and I think that was true during the night. First thing this morning we had a cold breeze and a very thin overcast, I have just been out for a shufti and it hasn't changed. The glass is steady on 1020mb and the forecast is for a bright day with sunny spells and some uninterrupted sun later. The constant ESE wind will be moderate and will allow us a high of 4C and a low of 0C tonight but with a -5C wind chill for much of the day. That's what is giving us the -6C temperature at the moment..... We can expect a slightly warmer day tomorrow but then on Thursday we are promised clear skies and 12C with double figures for the rest of the week.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I've been into town to post my letters, get my meds and while I was there, get the heavy end of this week's veggies, the ones that will keep well for a couple of days. It's very cold, you need to be wrapped up.... and I might be wrong but there was the odd flake of snow drifting down from the thin, broken overcast.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon stayed cold and dry with a bitter wind chill. We seem to have had a light overcast all night and this morning it's the same with a cold breeze but dry. The glass has moved down to 1013mb. The forecast is for an overcast day with the chance of a shower around noon. The easterly winds are going to be moderate all day and we can expect a high of 5C and a low of 4C tonight but with a -5C wind chill for much of the day. Tonight the temperature starts to rise as the wind shifts into the south bring us rain and that's the outlook for the next few days, much warmer and more chance of rain.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was dry but we had an overcast night and first thing this morning there was evidence of recent rain. At the moment it's breezy, overcast but dry and mild. The glass is down on 1004mb and falling. The forecast is for rain to come in later this morning and persist until mid-afternoon. The constant southerly winds are brisk and gust to well over 40mph. We can expect a high of 13C and a low of 8C tonight with a wind chill of -4C at times during the day. The outlook is for similar semi-tropical weather for the next five days.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday we had very heavy rain to accompany the mild wind but that had ceased by 15:00 and before dark we had a bit of late sun. This morning it's breezy and mild again and we have overcast but it's dry so far! The glass is down slightly on just above 1003mb and the forecast is a re-run of yesterday, showers until mid afternoon and then sunny intervals until nightfall. The southerly winds will be brisk and gusts of over 50mph can be expected. We shall have a high 0f 13C and a low tonight of 6C with a wind chill of -4C for most of the day. The outlook is for similar weather with the wind being the most notable element. Sunday could be a very wet and windy day......

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon stayed gloomy and at times wet. It was raining as darkness fell but by then the wind had dropped significantly. This morning first thing it was overcast a light breeze and mild but dry. It's still the same. The glass is down on 1001mb and the forecast is for a brighter day, dry with sunny intervals. The moderate wind will be mainly WSW gusting to 30mph and ending the day in the SW. We can expect a high of 10C and a low tonight of 3C with a wind chill of -3C for most of the day. The outlook is for the temperature to remain high but tomorrow we shall see heavy rain and there is a yellow warning for strong winds. After that it settles down a bit and eventually cools down.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
.
Here we are again. Yesterday and today 38C. Hopefully this will be the last of our really hot days.
.
On Thursday while waiting for a bus, I heard a very strong English accent, belonging to a couple also waiting. We started talking, turns out that they are from Birmingham and over here on holidays. It was a lovely 27C day and they were very excited to be here. They said that they don’t want to go back. Oh dear.
I wonder how they are handling today with 38C and 18-43km/h winds.
If they go out today , I hope they are smothered in sun screen. If not , with their fair skin, they will come home looking like Beetroots.

Nice of you to care Cathy!
They will survive but they won't enjoy it. Neither would I, we will have about 6C today after allowing for the wind chill, that's semi-tropical for February!
