That's the first 500 words done....enough for this morning! Any reason why there is no punctuation in legal documents? I'm struggling not to slip the odd comma in.

No Idea Wendy. I pop the odd one in occasionally if it helps the sense. You'll find you speed up as your eye gets used to the script......

Using full stops and commas could alter the intent or meaning of the sentence. By enclosing all the detail into one sentence removes any opportunity to create any doubt about what the testator intended. All the 'yes but' arguments have been avoided.

I agree but leaving them out can make it very difficult to decide when a separate clause starts and is not part of the preceding one.

What is Wendy transcribing?

Bobs cousin arrives today, a dull cloudy day and cool at last. The temperatures of 33 degrees have fallen to a pleasant 22, which feels positively cool. It's strange how the body adjusts to extreme temperatures. The other night at our neighbours meal, people were going and putting jackets on when it was still 25 degrees, complaining they were cold! Over the next ten days it rises to about 27 but not the extremes we have had for the last two weeks. Facebook reminds me it was the same last year

Good luck with that Stanley.

After a continuously drizzly day yesterday today looks brighter. We are all invited to lunch today with an English acquaintance who lives about 12 km away. The invite came out of the blue.

I am looking forward to it with mixed anticipation. He is a good cook but not someone I would normally chose as a friend. However he is a very caring person, if a little odd. He is also very active in European charity that supports orphans and Syrian refugee children. I have much admiration for this. He has just returned from Bulgaria where he met some heart rending situations.,

He has worked hard to keep the English community together, taking over the hosting of the wine tasting event after Roy moved back to the uk on the death of his wife. We have never managed to go to the new events as they seem to fall when we are in the UK, so I think this is Chris' way of keeping in touch. He like a few of our English contacts is busy taking French nationality to counteract the uncertainties in their futures here

It will be fine Sue thanks. I like the way it's coming together in my head. Keep up with progress on Shed Matters! I shall be in their again shortly working slowly and with purpose.
I hope you enjoy your invitation. I know what you mean about quite worthy people who don't immediately attract. Perhaps that's the reason why I don't get invitations very often! Perhaps my standards are too high..... How will possible changes affect you? I have friends in Cyprus and must get on to them, I suspect their position is even worse than yours.....

The meal was very successful. He was very entertaining and the food good. We didn't eat again that day. I have the utmost respect for what he does, working with Medecin Sans Frontiere, but I still don't really like him that much. How awful is that.

The weather has taken a turn for the worse and apart from a couple of degrees we could be at home. We had much needed rain last night. Proper rain not the incessant drizzle we have had since Wednesday. It's set to continue for the week.

Yesterday we took a trip to a builders merchant and a sewing warehouse in Vannes. We found the shower we want for the ensuite in the main bedroom and will collect it on Monday. It is a shower cubicle and comes with all the parts, shower hose etc etc. My sewing trip was good. I picked up some bargains. Several 3-4 metre pieces for 5 euros plus some other bits, all helped by Bobs cousin who is good at spending my money :laugh5:

Don't worry about disliking the bloke Sue, after all as Hawkeye said to Winchester, it saves so much time. I remember once telling the head of the LRO I had a violent reaction every time I saw a certain bloke in his organisation. He told me not to worry but join the club!

Building a new stew to see me through the week and making slow progress on my engine. Mundane things I know but satisfying and something to show for it afterwards! I hate effort that produces no results!

Working outside in the garden. Our power is going to be off for most of the day while permanent repairs are made where the fault occurred a couple of weeks ago.

Somehow I don't quite believe that Kev, :surprised: I have bent the first leg of my reflector element, managed to set the linked smoke alarms off as well, good to know they are working OK. :biggrin2: Planning how to do the other leg in perfect horizontal alignment, current thinking is the apple corer. :extrawink:
