Yoga and pilates today plus helping at the hospice shop. We have sold a book case on gum tree , so that has to be emptied and sorted through. We have bought a smaller one so we can get another single bed into our spare bedroom. At the monent we have a single bed with a pull out bed under neath. This pull out bed has a broken frame so when tbe children come it has to stay on the floor. Briony is getting a bit too old not to have a proper bed hence the bedroom re arranging. The pull out bed will make a good extra bed that can be put in my sewing room when needed.

You will get there Sue.
Today is pick Ruby up day, meeting half way at Sandbach. It's also blood donors day for me down at Rolls. My appointment is mid afternoon and coincides with when we would need to set off for the pickup at the services. Can't say how long I will be at donors so Sally will do the run today while I give my armful.

That's your equivalent of my Design Committee Sue. Mine reminded me yesterday of something I had forgotten which is going to be helpful today. Wonderful what is going on inside your head as you sleep!

I learned to love my bed when I was doing 100 hours a week on the road Sue. Illegal of course but the only way you could make enough to keep the family going was to work all the hours God sent. When I was on the cattle wagon I used to do 42 hours the first two days of the week but I had an arrangement with Richard that on Wednesday morning Vera left me in bed until I woke naturally and it was usually 8 or 9AM, that 10 or 11 hours put me back on my feet again. These days of course the effects of that linger on, I'm always in bad at 10PM and have 5 or six hours but make up in the afternoon with two hours in bed. Unusual I know but it suits me.
Today I shall be making a special cutter and threading the internal bore of my chuck back. Exciting stuff! By the way, I hope your jacket goes well Sue when you get back in the sewing room. I know the feeling when the last stages go wrong!

I am ready for the final stages of mounting my chuck on its new back. But before I do that I have to get ready for a big cook in on free leccy starting at 9AM. I got some stuffing yesterday so I can roast an old fashioned stuffed bird and plenty of veggies to go with it!

We have all three grandchildren for the next few days, an extra night stopover last night for the Silsden pair as they asked to stay once they had met up with Ruby who we collected on Thursday. I have a Roman village to help Ruby build for her homework today, not sure what else we are doing yet. Blackpool tomorrow for the lights.

Sue, have you tried turning the jacket inside out, and placing it on a tailors dummy, then hand tacking the lining? ( I had to do this once). It takes time but gives a good result. Do you have to line the arms? Or just the body?

I don't understand the problem Sue but I am with you in spirit. Maz sounds to be talking common sense as usual.....
I shall be levelling my Harrison Lathe after yesterdays exhausting marathon! But I'm glad I did it, it has been nagging me for over thirty years! I have a few aches and pains this morning, all that unaccustomed exercise! Perhaps I should take up Pilates Sue.......

Yes I have Maz, several times. The trouble is every time I turn it. The fabric frays and softens. The jacket has a front extension piece that joins to two bulky seams. This is what i am trying to attach . I incorrectly made it several weeks ago. Originally it was a ‘grown on’ piece but now it is a separate piece. I can’t trim it till it is in place or it will fray away. I have decided to do away with the extension piece,it is not really needed but backed where the buttons lay. I have now hand stitched the front up. This means the buttons will now lie on the edge of the front, which is the centre front. In fact the buttons will have to be slightly in from tbe centre front. The outcome is I will not be able to fasten the jacket as the front will now be slightly narrower, but then I never do anyway.

The whole jacket is interfaced and lined

I can tell that you are not satisfied Sue even though you are reaching a solution..... I know the feeling. I have a simple way out, I give up struggling and cut my losses.
I have a more positive report..... Here we have a clean, well oiled and perfectly level Mrs Harrison.... It's a nice feeling when something goes well and I wish Sue could have the same satisfaction!

Very perceptive Stanley, yes I am a little dissatisfied. Not tge professional finish i had hoped for. I have not sewn the buttons on yet as I have a sewing lesson on the 8 th and Maxine may just have other suggestions. If i sew the buttons it will mark the fabric and then there is no going back.
Today i have received an email of absolute interest , i shall say more in the family history section. When all the politics was swamping my facebook page I devided to join a few FB groups, two sewing groups, a couple of local history groups and lastweek a world wide genealogical group. I put a summary of my interests and searches on the page not really expecting much but it has come up trumps. A century plus mystery resolved.

I mentioned your toils with the jacket lining to Sally but said she can't really offer any suggestions as she doesn't know the make up of your design. Your second paragraph sounds a lot more encouraging than your first though, exciting stuff.
Today we are going to Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour and American Diner. Carla and the Silsden kids will be meeting us there. We are booked in the diner for tea but before then the kids can run riot in the barns and on the adventure kit. We will be bringing Isla and Finlay back with us again for a stop over so that Carla and her husband can attend the funeral of a close family friend tomorrow. Ruby goes home on Saturday.
