You are right about less posts from Stanley, he is not a well bunny. Nurse Susan is on the case and is keeping Janet and I upto date daily.
I spoke to dad last night our time, about lunchtime in the UK he said "he is worse than China......"
I will update you all later when I have heard Susans daily report.
Regards to you all
Margaret
Hope he soon feels better. I noticed his absence early this morning. Best wishes from The Middle Kingdom.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Hope you are back at the helm very soon Stanley. Will keep checking-in to hear of your progress.
Take it easy.

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

I don't think the underpants are responsible.
(I'm glad there is nowt wrong with China)
Come on Stanley! Get yourself sorted! We miss you.

What Stanley needs at the moment is a big dose of `Onwards and Upwards'!

Wishing Stanley a speedy return to good health.
This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting descendants of the Nutters who built Bancroft Mill, one of whom was visiting Barnoldswick from Perth (Australia). I was on the Beach at the time and she thought it amusing enough to want a picture of my behind... (no accounting for these antipodeans!).
Anyhow, there was a bit of a 'do' up at Bancroft with a special steaming day for them. Here they are in the centre of this pic. The lady facing camera is called Janet.

Well David, she is certainly not missing the weather here. It has been very cold (down to 2 or 3 degrees at night and not reaching 20 during the day.
Janet and myself (Stanley's oldest and youngest daughters are both in Perth, Western Australia).
As soon as I have another update on dad I will let you all know.
Mags xx

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
It's 16.00 hours UK time and Mrs Tiz and I have just had a 20-minute conversation on the phone with himself - Stanley Graham, no less. We'd sent him a card and he called to thank us but we had a good chat and it's obvious he's not letting the back pain keep him down. Susan has provided him with Paramol tablets from the chemist which contain paracetamol and hydrocodeine. He's taking it easy but looking forward to getting back into a routine of walking each day. He managed to get the LPAs sorted too and is pleased with that. He's as feisty as ever and we put the world to rights on everything including Brexit and Donald Trump!

That's good to hear Tizer.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I should have also mentioned something that will please Maz. Susan has taken away the ancient bulk bottle of aspirins that Stanley had been hoarding since the turn of the century and got him some new ones.

Well done, Susan. Hope neither of you got injured in the struggle! (He is a stubborn lad)
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
There aren't many people who give you a report on their bowel movements during a phone conversation! He then went on to say that he wasn't sitting on his stool because it's too uncomfortable, and there was a moment of silence at our end until we realised he was referring to his computer chair.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Dunno Tiz, my mother, her best friends and her cousin its the normal phone call topic, along with the weather and how bad the politicans are and its rubbish on TV.
(must be something that happens when one goes past 80 years of age)
Meanwhile visited the beach area and pleased that town square chip shop open in the afternoon for steady, if not spectactualar trade. Cheese n Onion Pie, Chip Butty and Mushy Peas, and I tried the new Coke Zero. Noted at the beach there is a mechanical surf board thingy, nice to have a change from what I have seen in previous years, must have been busy as Co-Op Car Park full up yesterday !

Good to hear that Stanley is on the mend. Keep it up.
I can't help thinking there must be an element of Post Traumatic Stress involved here - now that it has sunk in that he actually paid £3.50 for a mug of tea.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Are we seeing the beginning of 'Brexit' price increases? My recent car MOT came with a recommendation that the front tyres were approaching their minimum limit. Nothing urgent but a recommendation all the same. So off to the local tyre firm to see what the damage is.
" You're in luck, its a good job you came at this time."
" Why?" I ask "are they offering a 50% discount?"
" Not quite, all the big firms have notified us they are raising them by 6%, Order them today and get them at the current price".
Usually I'm a bit cynical about this kind of sales talk but watching the BOE drop interest rates and declare another round of quantitative easing and at the same time the stock market rises 100+ points, (extra profits maybe) there may be some substance to his sales pitch.
Did I buy the tyres? Yes I did but only because road safety is a number one priority with me. Two tyres = £290 please.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
9th of August is Census Night.
I have been trying to think of a title for my (unpaid) occupation (of housewife).
I think I put myself down as a "Domestic Stain Remover" on the last on.
This time I shall be "Manageress of Domestic Doings".

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Thanks for comments about Beach Whyperion.
It was even busier yesterday, with the largest number of children registered in a day so far this year (in the four days so far, we've had over 2,000 visits).
We have different activities each day of the week - tomorrow, it's a one off with our town crier hosting a competition outside the Beach marquee.

Good grief! You must be driving one of those quarrymen's lorries with the big balloon-like tyres.plaques wrote:Two tyres = £290 please.
David, I'm glad to hear the beach is so successful and that you're getting more kids each year. Perhaps it's cause and effect - the associated partying is so enjoyable that the result is more children in Barlick each following year.
