I must admit its a bit bigger than a Sinclair C5. But considering the current road driving population, drink/drug drivers, mobile phone users, text message senders, Pokemon Go players and the ubiquitous boy racer you need something a bit substantial to survive. I had my name down for a Saracen personnel carrier. Finally dropped the idea when they wouldn't let me have the machine guns. Nothing to fight back with.

Now then, we don't have any of that on our Beach!

This is our finished flood barrier on Skipton Road. Looking at the picture, I realised that we have created Barlick's longest bench...

The kids will love that for riding their bicycles along. Be prepared for a number of personal injuries claims from irate parents. These will be along the lines. ' You should have known my little Jonny would fall off at some point so its ALL your fault!'

Did you order a beach but someone did a typo and the order went out for a bench?

The newspapers today are running headlines saying the government will pay owners of houses affected by fracking sites....
According to the BBC's review of today's papers:
"Will you hit the Frackpot?" asks the Mail on Sunday, which reports on its front page the suggestion by the government that some of the proceeds of fracking developments could be paid directly to people living nearby. The paper speculates which towns and villages could be in line for windfalls. Households in Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire, it says, could receive nearly £65,000 each."

From Tory party manifesto 2015. . .

"We will continue to support the safe development of shale gas, and ensure that local communities share the proceeds through generous community benefit packages," said the Conservatives in their 2015 manifesto. "We will create a Sovereign Wealth Fund for the North of England, so that the shale gas resources of the North are used to invest in the future of the North."

I have a load of aspirin I could give you Stanley. I could drop 3 boxes of 28 round if you want. I got them on prescription for a while and didn't take them all.

Somewhat ironically they are labelled Co-op Pharmacy......

Stanley's more prolific posting today!

Unfortunately, the other issue demanding my attention is an overnight break-in at Barlick Beach... am off to deal with it.

...or characteristic footprints in the sand?

The £5 the Co-op quoted Stanley for 32 aspirin sounds bizarre! I had a look on the Co-op web site and they don't list standard aspirin, not even under branded names, so perhaps the shop staff were confusing it with something else. They have Dispirin soluble aspirin but SCG doesn't like the taste and wanted the ordinary non-dispersible type. If you buy aspirin now you have to check you're getting the type you need. Standard pain-relieving aspirin is in 300mg tablets but the type that's sold as one-a-day for heart health is only 75mg. The supermarkets sell the pain-reliever type: several supermarkets quote around 30p for a box of 16. looks like Co-op are odd ones out on this. Mind you the Co-op web site doesn't give confidence. When I had it search for aspirin I clicked the box to rank the results as Low-High Price but it produced a ranking with the highest prices first; did the opposite and it gave low prices first!

Apart from damage caused breaking in, the beach wasn't badly trashed - just chairs thrown about mindlessly etc... We have got some CCTV on the case now. I was hopeful of some forensic footprints, but they turned out to be from when we put the covers over the sand when we closed up yesterday...

Anyhow, thought folk might like to see this link about Bancroft Pendle Today.

Spot on Tiz! I followed Ian's advice and asked at Shambles, 16 X 300mg Aspirin for 30p.
Thanks for the magazines, they arrived yesterday.
I mentioned on another thread that a book I bought from the RR Heritage Trust on RR piston aero engines years ago has pages missing. I mailed them and got news this morning they are sending a replacement copy...... Rolls Royce Service.....

Busy with other things, I only noticed yesterday that a start had been made on taking down the northlight roof area at Bankfield Shed.

When I got home, Rolls-Royce had delivered a leaflet about their development plans in part of the site north of the demolition.

Opened the bedroom curtains just before 6.30am this morning and couldn't see my ponies, just broken electric fence tape fluttering in the wind....luckily they hadn't got far, and were happily tucking into some long, lush grass. Another line of fencing tape had stopped them getting into my neighbour's field where hidden dangers lurk. They were daft enough to come trotting back to me for a bucket of feed.
