I had a bit of a job yesterday. I had to take the latch off the back gate and grind it back a bit. The timber that Ian used for the gate must have been kiln dried and the gate has bowed slightly and it was affecting the way the latch acts on the catch leaded into the gatepost. It's fine now and that's not a complaint. Good air dried timber is getting harder to source.

The furniture arrived and it fits in well, there are pics on the 'Mainly' thread for anyone interested. Certainly felt the benefit of a 4ft x 4ft tilt and turn window and would highly recommend Digger Green Removals for a reasonably priced job moving it.

The benefit of the expanded polystyrene insulation on the outside wall, layered reflective foil behind the relocated, more efficient connector radiator, plugging the gaps in the floorboards and under the skirting boards with rockwool and a double layer of insulation boards under the laminate floor has made a massive difference to the temperature in the front room. Even with 2 degrees outside yesterday evening it was warm and draught free. Lovely.

Cut down a pair of 50 watt bookshelf speakers to fit in the radio I got from Ian. Not sure if the 'internal' pic is clear enough but the woofers are in the cut down cabinets and the cone tweeters are on metal brackets. Wiring it up to the hifi once I've delivered P to her blood donor session.

Usual standard and some nice finishing touches.....

Doing a bit of looking at footstools, I kept the one that came with the old sofa as it's a good size and is useful for storage. I found some material left from some cushions we had made a few years ago, should be just enough to cover it with. I have someone bobbing round later this morning, who is sewing the corners for me, once that's done I can staple it on.

Today's project has been a protective TV cover for middle offspring. His offspring doesn't have a good track record with TVs so this seemed a necessity. They do sell purpose built cabinets but, as with everything that has a label (special needs, wedding etc) they're extortionate prices. It just needs the hardware and a few holes for cables and to let the sound out

I'll hang it on his wall early next week, can't let the young lad see how it all fits together or he'll be taking it to bits

That's something I have never been called on for....

Some years ago we gave our old Daihatsu 4 X4 to a distant friend whose son sounded to have a similar problem to Kev's grandson. He loved to 'tinker' and drive round a field they had. The other day I heard he'd passed his driving test. Always look on the bright side.
