Maybe for Bathroom = WC ? = install a saniflo or similar under the stairs - space can be tight but when you get smaller with increasing years the ability to fit improves.

The good news when Mrs Tiz returned late last night was that her mum will have somebody coming in 3 times a day and they're going to make some changes in the house such as handles around the bed and the loo, and she can sleep downstairs and be washed in the loo (or more accurately in the washbasin in the loo!). They've agreed that dad isn't fit enough to help - in fact he''ll benefit too from the handles and the visitors. A chair is being fitted with wood blocks to make it higher and easier for her to get in and out of. We still can't find out what is supposed to be wrong with her and there seems to be no-one in overall charge to whom you can appeal - a common problem in the NHS. At least we are seeing some action, even if it does consist of various people working independently and with no overall supervision of performance and coordination. It's such a shame, that the NHS could be so much better if it was better managed.

Those are all the modifications my Dad had although they soon found reasons why he couldn't have 3 visits a day. We had to fight for 2 in the end, before he went in the home. He managed for 10 years by himself with all those modifications. not bad when you consider he was in a wheel chair as he was an amputee

Satisfying stuff Comrade. Try not to look too smug! I seem to remember forecasting that you'd be busier in 'retirement' than you imagined. Must be nice to be able to say exactly what you think with no repercussions.
Back in the shed today and reading Berlin for light entertainment.

More news on Mrs Tiz's parents. It began to look a bit dodgy when the therapists realised the downstairs toilet is an understairs cupboard - how would they wash Mum in there? It would have to be in the kitchen instead. But she can hardly stand up, so the options just seemed to go from bad to worse. Dad got fired up and phoned around to all the medics and carers who he's been in contact with on this issue and asked them what happened to the original promise they made that mum would go into a rehabilitation unit before being sent home. He's now been told she will go to the unit, which will be a great benefit as they have all the right people and equipment. But typically, just as they told him this, others turned up and converted the house! The rehab unit will try to get her ready for coming home but if they can't manage it then at least they'll have shown that she can't live at home and needs to be in a dedicated caring environment. You often can't get anything like this done until the professionals themselves have seen the patients condition closely and continuously over a period of time. The hospital was trying to get her out and free up a bed and they saw home as the easiest option. They wanted to send her home today and, unfortunately, we wouldn't be surprised if she still turned up on the doorstep at home, despatched by the hospital regardless of the rehab decision. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing! But full marks to Dad for his telephone campaign, it's difficult when you've got Parkinson's, you're not only physically handicapped but you get confused and suffer depression and heightened anxiety. Even with his reduced mobility and dexterity he has been cooking his own meals - and not just sticking a ready meal in the microwave...he's made cakes, scones and pies! (But then he was trained as a food scientist!)

Preparing for custody of both Silsden grandchildren from mid morning tomorrow through to Wednesday night! Their Mum and Dad are off to a wedding event on an island just off the coast of Northern Ireland. I'm hoping that our just short of three year old will not start each day at 5.30am as has apparently been the norm for the last few days! The youngest is only 8 months old so is not yet fully mobile and quite a placid young lad although he is teething at the moment. Happy days..
All this was easy the first time round, I'm now 30 years the wiser and the body is not quite as willing. :surprised: I'm sure we'll survive! If I'm not active on the site by midweek next week I will probably be suffering from toddler overload.

Same age as my 2 grandchildren although the eldest is three and a half. %.330 -6.00am is the norm. I get conditioned when we stay withthem, that we will be up by 7.00am as we sleep on campbeds in the lounge. We come home exhausted but love the stay.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I'll be on duty in our Heritage Room. It's quite exciting to have reached the stage when we can invite people in. I joined the history society about five years ago specifically to get access to their archives and it took at least three years to get just a peep, so it's good to be able open up access up to anybody. It will be by appointment only to begin with, but we hope to have regular open days, family history events etc.

ArrIN France to very hot temperatures and lovely blue skies. We flew from Leeds Bradford. Noon in Leeds, 4.00pm french time at the shops in our local town topping up on essential supplies for the weekend. Loads of cucmbers to pickle, 4 more corn on the cob, some courgettes and butternut squash. The green beans have decided to flower again but there are one to eat. Everything is bone dry and wilting.

Maz, give Cazza my love. I shall be watching for Wendy and getting over my unproductive navel-gazing in the shed! (See Shed Matters, I lost the plot yesterday!)

Nowt wrong with that Sue, I've always said that if you really want something and the money is in your pocket you should get it. I've never regretted working on that principle, there are no pockets in a shroud! Mind you, I've been broke most of my life......
Cracking on with breathing life into me engines!

You will fall in love with your IPad, Sue.

Thinking about pipework, not my favourite occupation. Makes you wonder how I got myself into this..... All right, I'm Shed fixated at the moment but after two years I can't give up now!
