Remainder of the pea soup not frozen bit the dust yesterday dinnertime so I made some of my tomato relish and had that on a butty for tea. I popped a small topside joint in the oven last night and cooked it slowly. Just taken it out and wrapped it in foil to have a good rest. I see hot beef butties on the horizon!

Kale & mushroom lasagna from the River Cottage Veg cookbook. It sounds odd, but it was delicious.

Beef butties yesterday and at least one today. Have got some beef stew out of the freezer and I fancy porridge at dinnertime, it's definitely cold enough for it!

Had a lovely run out yesterday to Grassington and on to Settle via Halton Gill and over the hills (lots of snow up there) so we had fish & chips in Settle therefore it was a beef butty for tea. Sliced beef & onions in gravy with roasties & cabbage - 3 main meals and two lots of butties out of an £8. piece of brisket!!

Moh, a good piece of beef is cheap meat. I casseroled a nice piece of Dexter rump steak with onions and garlic. When it was done I transferred it to a pan and added the stock from the Topside I cooked the other day and a bagful of broth bits. I'm fishing the meat out for butties and when that is done (about three butties worth) I shall have at least one good helping of rich veggie soup. Am having porridge for dinner this cold weather. A small bowl keeps me full till teatime. Marvellous how far you can stretch one small piece of rump steak!

Nowt like broth and little l;ads on a cold day! I had porridge at dinnertime and a butty made with the end of a piece of roast beef that was laid on the slicer at the butcher's yesterday. Kath didn't charge me for it as I was cleaning up for her. Another hot beef butty at teatime fished out of the veggie broth. It's getting better by the day so I shall have porridge for dinner and broth and a meat pie for tea.

Porridge with a banana sliced into it at dinner and half a bowl of veggie soup and a meat pie for tea. I had to use my will power after tea, I kept fancying cheese on toast but managed to ignore it! Kept thinking of all those fat people waddling down the street!

I once bought daughter Margaret a light activated pig that sat in the fridge until you opened the door and the light came on, then it started to grunt! Mags said she was glad when the battery ran down!
I had the munchies again last night but resisted. Porridge for breakfast, burger and egg butty for dinner and the last half bowl of veggie soup and a meat pie for tea. Filled up with a banana, an apple and a pear. Love my fruit in the evenings..... I'm looking at tomato relish, black pudding and cured ribs in the fridge for today...... Something will occur to me!

Porridge for dinner and I marinaded the ribs before grilling them to put a crust on them and then popping them in a casserole with a few bits floating around in the fridge. Had a butty with the beans and gravy on for tea, very tasty. I'll have the rest today, perhaps with rice.

Went out for lunch I had peppered chicken with the veg and chips. One of the veg was sprouts but couldn't get the fork in them to cut them they didn't seem to have been cooked. The rest was good. Then followed Stanley's example and had a butty for tea. Eileen
