I'm giving Well Pharmacy one last chance. I submitted a prescription yesterday on NHS Access and now I'll see whether they send me a text to say they've got it ready and how long it takes for that to happen.

I'm still in two minds as to whether I take up Ian's offer and go for the booster. The last one made me poorly.....

The eye test and discussion with the ophthalmologist at Boots yesterday went very well. I had the basic tests and also the paid-for CT-type scans (£25, a bargain, cheaper than other opticians and worth doing once a year at that price). He found no problems with my eyes and he agreed I don't need varifocals and instead will have a pair of specs with `near' lenses for reading and computer use and a a pair with `far' lenses for everything from TV to driving etc. Just what I wanted. He agreed that a lot of people don't get on well with varifocals; even the most expensive ones many don't need them anyway if they'll accept two pairs of monofocals instead. But varifocals have been promoted so hard that everyone thinks they must need them. I asked if they could make up my new near lens glasses using the frame from my old ones which I like, are only 18 months old and people say suit me best. Of course, no problem, was the answer. So far, all good news! I'm going on Monday to choose a frame for the far lenses and to place my order.

If like myself, you had never heard of the Nipah Virus the Mail says it's OK to continue not worrying about it, as a vaccine is on its way.

It's similar to the Oxford Astrazenica one. What could possibly go wrong?

Vision is back to normal after this morning's retinal screening, I'd best go and check the coat of gloss I put on the bedroom door earlier

We went to Boots this morning to choose my new glasses frames. Found good ones with the help of one of the staff. Then sat down to go through the usual discussion about the details. All OK until she mentioned something about my previous Boots glasses. I told her I hadn't had any from them for about 20 years. Her computer was showing I had. Then she asked me if my new prescription was done in Lincoln! I dug out the copy they'd given me last week and - shock! I'd only previously looked at the test results but the scrip was made out to someone with the same name as me but lives in Lincoln! The conclusion was the results were mine but had been put down to the wrong person so she had to make out a new scrip for me. I hope my namesake in Lincoln won't get a surprise when he next visits Boots opticians!

Kev, Those eye drops they use for dilating your pupil are savage. I just take the opticians annual retinoscopy check since they closed the clinic in Butts. I'm not going to travel out of town just to have acid poured in my eyes......!

I forgot to mention - the man in Lincoln apparently has exactly the same date of birth as I do! I wonder if he has the same eyesight as me because the prescription results were what I expected. Slight change from the last time and the right eye needed stronger lens than the left, and also astigmatism. The ophthalmologist knew I was a new customer to Boots and we discussed my eyesight history so he had to create a new database file for me and input last week's data. My guess is that the glitch occurred at the point of filling in the name and address - the computer perhaps offered the `wrong me' and the eye doc just clicked on it.

Sounds right - the alternative is just too spooky.

My medical report this morning took a bit of classifying but I think this is the right place for it.
I have been having increasing discomfort in my favourite wing back chair in the front room. Last night I took the sheepskin off the back and the padding from under the cushion and used it just as the designer had intended instead of improving it.
It was totally different and 100% better. I have no doubt that years ago when I first modified it it was an improvement but gradually over the years the sheepskin has got lumpy and my physical condition has changed resulting in a constriction of blood flow to my lower limbs. All this I had accepted as a consequence of old age but last night I proved this was not the case......
I've always been an advocate of examining our seating and sleeping positions. Last night I took my own advice!

Stanley, I said I would report back on my latest prescription and well Pharmacy. You'll recall I'd never received their texts to tell me it my scrip was ready even though in the shop I'd shown them my phone with it's number and they'd shown me that it was already in their data and therefore I should have been receiving the messages. Then a couple of weeks ago I got their text for the first time. I said on OG that if the next scrip was accompanied by a text I'd stay with them. I placed an order with them last Wednesday and there was a text yesterday morning (Tuesday) and I've collected the scrip. So I'm happy with that. If you're not getting texts go to the shop, explain and show them your phone number on your phone. Ask them to confirm there and then that it's the number they've got for you. And remember, these are texts, not WhatsApp. Good luck!

They've always been OK Peter except t6he last couple of months when one came 14 days early and the next months missed altogether. I shall wait and see how they do at the end of November. I'm glad you got your meds OK!

Which would be totally wrong Peter. The Rainhall Road Car Park is just a quarter of a mile from my back door on foot.I can walk up there easily.....

All has gone well. I have been to the mobile Covid clinic and got my booster jab. From there I decided to try the pharmacist for my meds. I haven't had the text but then I never got it last month. I had a twenty minute wait but got all three items. I was on a roll be then and so went to Shambles and topped up with Cod Liver Oil capsules and Multivitamins. Oh and by the way, the weather forecast was correct and it didn't rain.
Everything is put away and I am heating my dinner up. Things could be worse!
