A proper sense of priorities....

Just been round to the Bosoms Centre to borrow the stepladders. We are setting about re decorating on of our front bedrooms. I had to brush them off and give them a swill in the yard as the last time they were used for a plastering job round the new window in the boiler room at the centre. Proper dusty and obviously some workmen don't give a monkey's.

Sadly there are a lot of people who treat everything as a disposable item.

The bedroom has our double wardrobe with a central drawer unit and mirror which are rammed with all our 1940' stuff. Fortunately they are three separate units so we should be able to move them reasonably easily to get to that wall. I took the curtains down and the track off, Sally fancies replacing them with a blind as the lathe and plaster dividing wall was put in right up to the left hand side of the window when the room was split so curtains never hang right unless we only had one. We''ll decide on that one later. I will start with the ceiling which is the hardest bit but it's all going to be the same colour, no point in making the job any harder.

Second coat for the ceiling today. Sally is doing the walls although I gave the longest one a second coat yesterday. I think sally has settled on a singe curtain rather than a blind. It can add a bit of colour as the main décor will be light grey with white paintwork. I reckon a red will go well along with similar for the bed clothes when we replace the previous bunks with a double bed.

Good stuff Ian. I am currently making plans for the hall, stairs and landing. First job is to demolish the short bit of wall, on the top landing, and replace with a timber balustrade.

We have more or less completed the emulsioning, we have painted up to and around the triple wardrobe. To complete we have partially emptied the two wardrobes which then let us move them from the wall and into the centre of the room. Drawers out of the centre dresser and that was shifted as well. We can now get to the remainder of the wall and all the skirtings and other paintwork that will need a coat of gloss.

Not for today though, day off from painting as our Carla is hosting Fathers Day and has the makings and the pizza oven prepped for a late lunch / early tea depending on the weather.

It was fine most of the afternoon so we managed to get the Pizza oven and the food sorted without problem. It chucked it down later in the afternoon, we came home when it bated.

A bit of painting today, the mishmash of different bits of concrete outside the back door was annoying me. It' dries a bit darker and I'll do the bit in the middle as soon as P is back home. It's a water based 'sports court' paint and goes on very easily. Second coat tomorrow evening, weather permitting.

It needs to dry completely and a second coat but it's looking a lot neater.

Nice job - big improvement.

Now you just need to donkey stone them steps for the full Northern effect.

I have returned the step ladders to to the Bosoms Centre and picked up the carpet cleaner. Might as well give the carpet a once over seeing as the room is nearly empty and before we get a new double bed. We put the triple unit wardrobe back in place, that has been in the same position since we had the carpet put down so it doesn't really need doing under there. While we have it I will give our front room a quick freshen as well.

Thank you, it looks a lot tidier this morning now the paint has dried to an even colour. It may get the second coat after work this evening, weather permitting.

Your almost empty room is a good opportunity for a carpet clean

I got the second coat on during a quiet spell at work

All the painting is done in the front bedroom. We have done it in the colours the granddaughters requested, they will be the main users. I have shampooed the carpet and it has dried off nicely. Not really the right colour for the rest of the décor now but it wont get used much and is not very old. Not much visible when the bed and other bits go in. We can shop for a bed and bedding now and material for some new curtains. They are going to be some shade of red.













I emptied our front room this morning and gave that carpet a quick clean while we have the machine at home.

I look at these standards and reflect that in comparison I am living in a slum! Oh dear.... Should I be worried?

If its dry and warm, no.

And you have a shed.
