Not a good sign Maz. No need to worry about the dog food, you know its simply boiled best mince. Never feed a dog anything you wouldn't eat yourself. Tinned dog food is well-packaged effluent!

Batter is nice but so fattening. Watched a woman on TV demonstrating a deep fat fryer big enough to take a large turkey. Deep fried turkey must be one of the most fattening foods in the world after 'corn dogs'. I had the last of the casserole with rice for dinner and a butty made with my tomato relish reinforced with a poached egg for tea. Felt a bit empty afterwards so I treated myself to half an Apricot jam butty. No butter but still a bit naughty!

We had turkey curry last night which got rid of the turkey thank goodness (apart from the legs which are in the freezer. Beeef pot roast tonight - yumm, yum!

Porridge at dinnertime and for tea I had half the pigs in blankets that came with the wrap up in a butty. I shall do the same today, I love porridge and it's so cheap and nourishing. You never feel hungry after a small bowl of porridge! (Should we be promoting the porridge diet?)

Boring I know but exactly the same as yesterday, porridge for dinner and the remainder of the pigs in blankets in a butty for tea.... I feel no pain.

Porridge for dinner (good job I like it!) and a small bowl of soup out of the freezer for tea. I have decided to work my way through the frozen soup and then make some more. I'll admit to feeling peckish after tea but resisted temptation!

We only by a turkey joint at Christmas does 1 meal and sandwiches. Enjoyed it so much we had a turkey dinner with all the trimmings again yesterday. Still not managing puddings though. Eileen

Porridge for dinner and ham and pea soup for tea. Both nice and even though it sounds boring it suits me.... Might have a poached egg on toast for dinner today.....

Dinner come tea for me today, just come back from the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Parlour and American Diner up between Embsay and Bolton Abbey. Both grandaughters with us to play in the barns on the outdoor equipment, (their both in the bath now).

Kids had pancakes with chocolate sauce and snow, Sally had the veggie option, goats cheese panini with salad and jalapinos. I had the New Yorker hot dog with sweet chilli onions and jalapinos, Chilli wedges and Nacho's with peppers and cheese on the side. Yum, don't need any tea now, will have a brew when daughter Carla comes to pick up Isla. Kids proper worn out with all the running about, a proper day out, recommended if you have never been.

I think I must be leading a quiet life! I started the day believing that I would have my usual porridge and soup so I got a bag of soup out to quietly defrost in the pan. Then I made a mistake and assumed this was the last of the frozen soup and started to build an industrial sized replacement for freezing. I used two packets of pork chunks out of the wrap-up and got some veggies, carrots, parsnips and turnip from Chowdrey's. Pork can easily become anonymous in a stew so I rolled the chunks in plain flour and pepper and deep fried them to put a tasty crust on. Then I fried the parsnips as well and an hour later had a large pan full of stew gently simmering, bulked up with spuds. It was only when I came to freeze five helpings that I reaLISED i HAD MORE SOUP IN THE FREEZER i HAD FORGOTTEN! nEVER MIND, IT KEEPS WELL. tHIS BROUGHT IT TO NOON AND DOG WALK AND WHEN i CAME BACK i REALISED THAT i WASN'T HUNGRY SO IN THE END i WAS A NAUGHTY BOY AND HAD NOTHING TO EAT UNTIL TEA TIME (bugger caps lock!). Not supposed to be good for you to eat nothing for 24 hours but I wasn't hungry, perhaps because I had been tasting the developing stew as I cooked it. So, the end game was I ate very little but have plenty of soup in the freezer. By the way, deep frying the pork worked well, the chunks of meat actually have some taste to them!

Been to the butcher's, all I needed was Jack's mince but I noticed two ends of cooked meat on the slicer. I know from my days when I was 'open all hours' that a shopkeeper always likes to get rid of the ends so I asked Kath for them. They were a bit raggy so she only charged me £1. There is plenty there for at least five decent butties so that solves today's catering, beef butty at dinnertime and ham at teatime for two days. You can't live much cheaper than that! Economy is the household mint!

Beef butty at dinner, one poached egg on toast plus a small bowl of the latest stew for tea. The poached egg on toast was because the last slice of bread was over a week old. Nice thing about home made bread is it was still perfectly good if slightly dry, ideal for toast. Would bog-standard white sliced last that long?

On Friday we had sausage casserole, it was a new recipe which I tried. It was good but I would not bother to do it again. Yesterday was rump steak and onions with roasties and garden peas. Roast lamb shoulder tonight.

Finished the last stew at dinnertime, made some tomato relish and had it on a butty for tea with grated cheese. Fruit for pudding. Must start eating the frozen soup (Beef and ham and Pea) in the freezer.

We had the roast lamb with new potatoes, cauliflower & mashed swede and carrots. To night it will be cold lamb with roast potatoes and the remainder of the mashed veg.
