Today I shall be Mainly...
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We gardened in the morning, spent the afternoon with our french friends and were then invited to our neighbours in the evening for a beer, a piece of gateau and coffee. Today no plans although there is a motoring event at Loheac http://www.fiaworldrallycross.com/
and pony racing at Caretoir. We may go to one or the other for the afternoon which promises to be hot and sunny.
This morning I have woken with a very stiff neck, perhaps from bending over clearing the strawberry patch, so I won’t be doing much

Tell Bob that it is essential that your neck is massaged gently with scented oils.........

He's a Philistine! Tell him that Clarins make some splendid products and he should invest in you!
I have just finished remaking the bed and reinstalling two duvet covers...... Thank God that's done, I need a sit down and a cup of tea now....

This YouTube video may look like a strange way to put a duvet into a cover but, trust me, once you've mastered it you'll never struggle again

Thanks Kev. If you try it just make sure you don't make any mistakes otherwise your duvet might disappear into an alternative Mobius universe and disappear forever!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I think I might try that method Kev......
Ian, two covers because I learned a long time ago that if you have a duvet under you as well as over you get a far superior snuggle! Try it........ I learned that in California.......

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
My Dad always had two for the same reason. The modern version is a memory foam topper, very snug. I watched the video too, i may give it a try at home. Here in France I shake it over the banister.
My neck is full recovered, it improved after a warm shower.
Today is tidying, packing and changing and washing the bedding. I shall wash the towels tomorrow morning , they may dry before we leave at lunchtime but will then finish drying over the airing rack in the laundry room. We are down to the minimum of food in the fridge and masses of fruit. Yesterday I converted all the rhubarb in the freezer to family size crumbles and made another with this years cooking apples and plums. The freezer is now fully sorted and tidy with soup brought to the top ready for our end of year and early Spring visits.
We just have a few more pears to pick and any eating apples that are ripe. My runner beans have started producing at last but we will not be here to eat them. My pumpkins are huge but not quite orange so may have to stay on the plant until our next visit in late October. Its been a good summer here for us with rain only twice during the day. Today is another day of 26 degrees. I am going to be cold when I get home

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I'd say you were well organised Sue! An example to us all....
I'm glad your dad had multiple duvets..... As a matter of fact I have three underneath in total! I do like a good snuggle! One of the few sensory pleasures available to me........

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Dad had two Stanley.
I just tried that method, it worked for the summer duvet, not necessarily quicker but definitely less energetic! I woner wether it will work for a thicker winter weight quilt.
My little grandaughter just facetimed me ( Ipads Skype) she was excited as she has finished nursery, starts school on wednesday and has gone up a class in both ballet and swimming . Exciting times for little girls. She was so chatty. How time flies

It works on our 15 tog superking quilt. It took a couple of attempts to perfect it, it was rolled too tight on the first go so was awkward to unroll

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Re: the two duvet's, couldn't do with that, we have a padded mattress cover which is fine. We had deployed the duvet a couple of weeks ago but it was too warm so we swapped back to one of Sally's hand made quilts. I can't do with overheating and at the very least need to stick my feet out of the bottom. I quite often do without the quilt as well and just lay on the mattress, au natural if I need to cool down. I get warm but I don't sweat, if I do it usually means I'm poorly.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
We have a King Sized Bed, so are at arms length plus from each other, this is just as well for hubby sleeps with an electric blanket plus duvet plus 2 thick granny rugs. I sleep with a sheet over me and possibly the duvet over my knees on a cold night. I cannot stand being too warm. I hate being "rugged up". I feel I will spontaneously combust. ( not a menopause thing as I have been like this all my life). You could fry an egg on me at night! Meanwhile, I hear hubby's teeth chattering...
I sweat too...any night over about 20C...pillows get soaked.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
When we go for a walk on a Winter's Day, hubby will say "Gawd that wind is freezing".
( really...I thought it was nice and "refreshing"!)
So don't ask me if it is cold. I wouldn't know!!!!

We will be thinking about you Ian! Is this the appointment at Wharfedale hospital? Much less stressful than getting to either of the Leeds hospitals.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Oh yes...thinking of you too, Panbiker.
Big day. Hope the news is good. ( gosh...you and Sally deserve that and more)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Coffee would render me unfit for anything Maz but I know what you mean. We will have lunch before we go, depends on what the plan is from then. We will need a lot of change as the car park at Wharfedale is pay and display which is a bit awkward with open ended appointment. Airedale's are all barrier and token operated so you only pay for the time you have parked. Will have to do a best guess here.
Just seen your post Tripps, thanks.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Having spent many an hour, on my own, in hospital corridors, ( waiting for hubby to be investigated or operated on) my best friend is my IPad ( with its own internet/wifi). I can watch " catch up TV and surf the net, answer emails and instant messages) all while I nibble my dry sandwich and drink my bottled water from home. Sometimes I struggle not to doze off against hospital fixtures...
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
A pity you're not in Wales - they've just scrapped all hospital car parking charges!
We'll be thinking about you, Ian.

Indeed Tiz, crazy as it sounds, mundane stuff like this is what a lot of the grants to individuals made by our cancer support group goes towards. It can be a big strain on finances over time. Out patient or supporter, no getting away from it in England. I have to say though that Wharefedale do have concessions for regular attenders undergoing cancer treatment.
