Well Pharmacy are working well at the moment, got my text yesterday and walked up there for my meds. There isn't any queue now, they are always empty. Perhaps everyone is getting their meds online......

Heard on World Service in a discussion about Monkey Pox in Africa. It appears that anyone with a history of Eczema is more likely to be infected.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Back in October after weeks of waiting I got my hearing tested and they did impressions for new earmoulds. When I got them they didn't fit properly but I have to make do with them until they could get me new ones. I emailed yesterday and asked if they'd got them. Got a reply just now ...
`The new moulds are here, and we are waiting to book an appointment for these to be fitted. You should receive an appointment for some time in February. A letter will be sent with the details once it has been booked for you.'
All that's needed is to attach the moulds to my present hearing aids and put them in my ears!
No wonder the NHS is in a mess and the UK slipping rapidly down the league tables to become a 3rd rate nation!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
And what really bugs me Peter is the fact that their standard model of a client is someone who is below average intelligence and not capable of doing anything. Like in this case fitting the ear moulds to the aids. They forget that at least 75%of clients are more intelligent, skilful and experienced than them.
In my experience as soon as you look old you are downgraded..... I remember a wagon driver explaining to me in words of one syllable how difficult it was to drive a large vehicle.... And no, I didn't tell him I just nodded and listened. The favourite phrase at the moment is "How many of these people could build a steam engine?"

Booked my follow up lung CT Scan yesterday, got a text reminder. It will be the middle of January in the mobile unit in Colne Asda car park.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
On Tuesday I posted this paragraph from a message I received from Audiology:
`The new moulds are here, and we are waiting to book an appointment for these to be fitted. You should receive an appointment for some time in February. A letter will be sent with the details once it has been booked for you.'
And I commented on OG: All that's needed is to attach the moulds to my present hearing aids and put them in my ears!
Now there's good news. I emailed them and asked why I had to wait all that time and repeated the sentence above. I got a reply asking me if I could travel to Wellington for an appointment. I replied suggesting that if they sent me the moulds I could fit them myself to the hearing aids. A message came back saying if I wanted to do that they could post the moulds to me or I could collect them from our local hospital. I could pass the hospital on my daily walk so I took that option, collected them this morning, trimmed the tubes to the right length, attached them to the moulds and now they fit and work perfectly. Best hearing I've had for ages!
The moral is don't be easily put off. Be polite but simply point out that you could save the NHS time and money as well as your own time if they followed your suggestions. There are people out there who can see the sense in by passing policies set up by those who are not at the sharp end of the NHS!

That's good news Peter....
"those who are not at the sharp end of the NHS! "
Ask yourself why these people are allowed to set up convoluted protocols that have no relation to the real world. As I said yesterday, I'll take a small bet you are more intelligent, manually dextrous and experienced than 99% of them!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I've just seen this on the Wikipedia page for Syria (obviously now out of date)...
Syria is home to a burgeoning illegal drugs industry run by associates and relatives of al-Assad. It mainly produces captagon, an addictive amphetamine popular in the Arab world. As of 2021, the export of illegal drugs eclipsed the country's legal exports, leading the New York Times to call Syria "the world's newest narcostate". The drug exports allow the government to generate hard currency and bypass international sanctions. Captagon is Syria's primary export, valued at a minimum of US$3.4 billion annually, surpassing the country's largest legal export, olive oil, which is valued at around US$122 million per year.
Let's hope they stick to growing olives in the future!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I first heard of RSV a while ago here. Respiratory Syncytical Virus
It is mentioned by Dr Nurse John Campbell today.
RSV baby trial cancelled.
Worth a look - and a little critical thought I'd say.
PS - President Biden in a farewell gesture, has extended the period of immunity from prosecution of Pfizer and Moderna, for the consequences of the mRNA "vaccine", until the year 2029.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I suspected that might be the case Ian because Well hadn't sent the texts out. That's why I left it until Friday, I have enough to last me until then. The Pharmacological equivalent of a last minute Xmas shopping rush!
I'd never heard of the condition until you mentioned it before David. From what I can gather I'm glad I had no children at the time because I would almost certainly have believed them. It appears that any such confidence would have been misplaced.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Back from a very efficient annual visit to Burnley General, a 30 minute queue to give up a few blood samples (no appointment necessary, just take a ticket like the supermarket meat counter) then 30 minutes with my head clamped in the MRI scanner. Got a dressing in each arm as a souvenir, one for samples and one for dye. Just a wait for results now, I'm expecting some time in February unless there's anything weird.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
The Respiratory Syncytical Virus mRNA trial which had been paused, has now been cancelled. Small numbers - but sufficient evidence to satisfy the conditions for cancelling the trial. It was found that giving the "vaccine" resulted in more cases of the disease than in those given the Placebo.

The "volunteers" for the trial were defined as
" Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) naive children, aged two through five years".
Who gave "informed consent"?

Of course David! I should have realised.... And a very good question. How could any consent be 'informed'?
Could it be that there was a degree of arrogance on the part of the doctors? Surely not in this enlightened age......
