The last of the oxtail and veggies and it improved right to the end. I cooked steak and kidney slowly and tried something I saw on a Youtube recipe, prunes. I will report back.

The steak and kidney cooked with onions and prunes was a success. I had it for breakfast and tea was fish and chips. Susan and I got them after freezing in Thornton waiting for starlings!

I've had prunes (and dried apricots) with lamb. It was spiced with cumin, cinnamon, garlic and chilli which was nice. The sugar content probably wasn't good for me but it was a fair while ago when I last had it.
Youngest offspring and family around for tea today so it's chilli con carne, rice (very small amount for me), a spicy ratatouille and an accompaniment of nachos, cheese and 'texmex' dips.

I cooked lambs liver and an onion in butter with a vegetable stock pot and some Lea and Perrins for seasoning. I have put prunes and juice in and bulked the dish up with cubed potatoes browned in the deep fryer. I think I might enjoy my tea!

It was Kev, the butter was never really hot so the liver and onions were cooked very gently. So easy to make liver hard!

I had chicken, sweetcorn and chips.

The rest of the chicken was picked, bubbled up for stock, strained and turned with two carrots a few spuds, two sticks of celery, onion and garlic, lentils, sweetcorn and the remains of the roasted stuffing we had left from the chicken dinner. Five portions for the freezer and one for lunch today.

Back to the steak and kidney with veggies for breakfast and tea. I have cooked mutton chops and they are ready for deboning and de-fatting.

Boiled Basmati rice is relatively good for carbohydrates, 25g per 100g. I occasionally have a 25g portion which puts the carbohydrate content well into single figures.

I cooked Basmati rice and had it with my tea yesterday. It scratched an itch but wasn't all that special despite being cooked the Delia Smith foolproof way.....

We just use the microwave pouch stuff. Two minutes and done, always comes out right. Also lots of different flavours and rice mixes available. Aldi is your friend in this regard, thy have lots of choice, other vendors are available. :extrawink:

I only use Lubna Basmati Rice for savoury fishes. At least you can be sure it's the real thing. Lubna and another firm were the only brands of Basmati rice that survived DNA testing to prove origin.
I cooked chicken wings with tomatoes and onions and had them with Veggies for breakfast and tea.

I cooked veggies but found I had forgotten to buy carrots and parsnips so this week veggies means Broccoli, cabbage, sprouts and peas.

I had chicken with tomato, onions, garlic and basil with pasta and cheese, very tasty. A portion for the freezer for a rainy day. Tonight it will be home made pea and ham soup with dumplings.

Jan made a pie with the remains of the Beef and Vegetable Stew.
We had half last night and will finish it off tonight. The 2 dinner dinner became a 3 dinner dinner. :good:
This meant that she had to test drive our new oven which was installed yesterday.
