Well done with the response from the Co-op's CEO Stanley. I note he ends by saying "If I can provide you with any further assistance...". You could now reply to him saying something to the effect that you're short of a few quid this week or need a bit of help in the shed....

Wouldn't trust them in the shed Tiz. Note it was the food CEO that responded. I reckon he got a rocket. Now we will wait and see if the tobacco arrives....

The 1612 on the side of Pendle, and my big brother, who had stayed overnight, leaving the house at 7.00am to head out on The King of the Pennines cycling challenge from Skipton. He's mad.
See why

Not seen the 1612 yet Wendy, when you said your brother had set off at 7.00am I thought he would have been "Riding with Brad" today at Barlick. Big event and two road training routes to pick from over the ground that Bradley trains on. We are going to go down to have a look around lunch time. With both of those sportive events on one day there will be literally thousands of riders on the roads in the area.

I didn't like the idea of it, but now it's there I think it's amazing! Sorry it's not very clear.

"Small Village" we can overlook, but "Lancashire" i'm not sure about that

Hmmm.

I'm reminded of Barry Norman many moons back on Film something or other on the BBC. The location report that week was from Barnoldswick, where some of A Private Function was being filmed. In the words of Barry Norman, 'our location report this week comes from Barlick in Yorkshire..'

I awaited calls for him to be given the freedom of the town within 5mins of the broadcast........

During the Boundary Commission debate on The Week in Westminster on R4 last night one of the contributors did allude to the fact that certain boundary changes almost 40 years ago still wrangled with the locals in the pennines.

Over 1400 cyclists appeared yesterday to "ride with Brad"

Now his foundation is thinking of making the event annual, bigger and better each time

The weather may have had something to do with only a few thousand turning out as spectators

My twitter feed was, however, filled with pictures and certainly many people enjoyed themselves

Hats off to Hope Tech for allowing the press conference to occur at 'their place' and capturing the announcement that Brad will be riding in the Tour of the UK. It should put Barnoldswick on the map through Sky, as I believe the terrestrial TV went to BBC North West

Yes it was good day down at Victory Park despite the weather, the heavy rain did stay away for most of the day but made an appearance as things were winding down. A good selection of stuff for the kids with all manner of early riding cycles for even the very young ones to try out on the practice area down at the park. Good news that it will become an annual event, the park does lend itself as a good venue as it did back when we used to have an annual Gala. It would have been enhanced with more catering outlets as the wait was quite excessive if you wanted a brew or something to eat. More rubbish bins around the site would also be a bonus for future years. I'm sure as this was the first of it's kind at the park it would be somewhat of a learning curve so we shall see next year. A very good entry to say that there was a similar event over in Skipton on the same day, albeit without the Tour de France and Olympic Gold medallist in attendance. Quite a scoop to have Brad launching his foundation from the Barlick event. It was covered on both the National and local news last night. I would assume that it will probably be included in tonight's regional news as well. Bradley was presented with a commemorative racing cycle trophy made at Rolls Royce, it was made from a fan blade which explains the fact that it was a curved cycle, not "bent out of shape" as I heard one visitor say in the VisitBarnoldswick marquee where it was on show.

Knowing that things like refreshments ( and waste disposal ) is wanted at events like this I possibly could arrange a volunteer service for some of it if no commercial operator or sponsor is forthcoming (subject to LCC letting me run down to the amenity skips with my car - there is a waste exemption for charity waste disposal so no permit or charge for business usage is needed the charity just needs to arrange transport - I would try to recycle whats possible though ) , will have to think about it for next time. Perhaps if Mr Wiggins' charity agents could contact me via PM I will see whats needed , via a circuitous route it will probably be related to the Olympic venue hosts for the mountain biking.

I have nothing but contempt for Todd Akin but the furore did produce one memorable quote. A lady posted on face book saying that at last she had found definitive proof that Republican candidates had non-functioning brain stems.

The only thing I can contribute Bodge is the old rhyme. From memory: 'King Solomon and King David had rather pleasant lives. They each had many concubines and twice as many wives. But both when growing old and weak were struck with sudden qualms, so Solomon wrote the Proverbs and David wrote the Psalms.'
What struck me was how hard it is to saw old mahogany boards in a confined space! See Shed Matters.

The New buzz words from the NHS:

SDM- Shared Decision making (& Choice)

I still find "No Decision about me Without me" works just fine, because I know it both congratulates the NHS & demonstrates that I don't understand what they have said

Who is this bloke Harry? Who cares? Such a waste of space and newsprint, the media has a lot to answer for.

Harry, He's only a boy and boys do funny thing. He's a soldier and perhaps he is supposed to be an officer and a gentleman but most would get up to hanky panky if they had the time and the position. I think the world press are jealous and should leave the Royal's alone. Eileen

There's nowt wrong with Harry and in my experience there is nothing like a good old fashioned cavort, The media should clean up its own mess first!!

I would think the only question to answer here is who took the photo and released it into the wild? What Harry does in his leave time as long as he is not harming anyone else is his business. He is a young guy and doing nothing different than most other young blokes presented with the same opportunity would do. No doubt it will get better once Andrew and Kate have produced some offspring, which should take some of the heat off him with the media bandwagon.
