The very last helping of last weeks chicken and veggies for breakfast. Then I dealt with the chicken later and dinner and tea were this week's crop of veggies with Scotch Egg.

I had a "tortilla wrap pizza" last night and used the Halogen Oven for the first time in a while.

I looked at their cost as they usually only last two to three years and there was a time when buying a new one was a reasonable solution to the element failing.

The arrival of Air Fryers has changed the market. Whereas they had increased in price - the competition has seen a reduction and they are widely available for £32 - £34 which I think is good value. Some sellers have renamed them as Halogen Air Fryers. Similarly the price of actual Air fryers has decreased substantially too. I though I had a bargain at around £60 after Christmas but similar models are a lot less now.

I would say that anyone looking for either could get a good deal now. I wouldn't replace the air fryer, but I might get another Halogen to keep in reserve. You can't cook a reasonable size pizza or a whole large chicken in an air fryer.

Depends on the size of the air fryer, you can get an 8 litre model which is more than big enough :good:

Indeed you can, I think Wendy has one with an optional rotisserie in the void. Perhaps she may confirm.

Fair enough - I was comparing them to mine which would not take a full chicken.

However that size seem to be from £75 upwards. The halogen is around £35. I think the power consumption is similar (about 1400 watts.)

Bought some sirloin steaks from Sainsbury's, they were very good. £5.15 each with a Nectar card. Cooked in one big pan with portabella mushrooms, tomato and sliced onions. Sweet potato fries in the air fryer and peas in the microwave. I stirred gravy granules and black pepper into the juices, left in the pan, for a sauce :good:

When you buy a packet of "cooking bacon" from Morrisons 500grams for 90p, your expectations are not high, but it will all be edible, and I have no one to impress with presentation. The worst case scenario is loads of pea and ham soup.

Now and then it exceeds expectations-
