I nipped into Skipton yesterday afternoon too Gloria to visit the art gallery on Victoria Street. They have been holding a Peter Brook event and I have a small collection of his prints. There is very little that I want or need these days but I felt I should treat myself to something special with the money from selling mum's jewellery......and I did! I've bought this one off print, which I'm going to collect on Monday.

Excellent idea Wendy, you’ve put the money to good use.

Looks good Kev, hope you enjoy the War of the Worlds!
I've been up to the top of Weets with Sally where it was glorious but wild.

Yesterday afternoon was lovely in Foulridge, had a walk to The Old Stone Trough for a refreshing beer. On the way back there was sunshine and the moon.

Stratford on Avon since Monday. Went down to see our Ruby. Her mum found us a nice hotel in town as she works in the hotel sector. We got an upgrade on arriving as well which was nice.
We got home last night just after 9.30. We had to vacate our hotel by 11 am but they had a bag store so we could leave or rucksacks at the hotel reception for the day, our train from Stratford wasn't until 4pm. We spent the day doing 12,500 steps shopping with Ruby who was looking for something to wear to her sister Neave's 21st birthday party last night. I think we walked every street in Stratford on the quest.
There is no direct route up to Leeds and beyond from Stratford so you have to change at Birmingham. The train terminates at Birmingham Moor Street and you have to get up to New Street station which is about a 10 minute walk for the cross country trains. The ones that go through Leeds either start at Plymouth or Exeter and terminate at Glasgow or Edinburgh. We booked open tickets so could get whichever was most convenient. We had over an hour to spare at Birmingham as we had booked seats on the Edinburgh train which was at 18.05, just enough time to get a bite to eat. Our seats weren't together but one behind the other but the bloke who would have been sat with me was also going to Leeds so he swapped his seat for Sally's so we could sit together.

Uneventful journey via Derby, Sheffield, Wakefield and we arrived in Leeds with 20 minutes to spare for the 20.26 Skipton train. It was waiting on the platform by the time we got there. Our Jack picked us up at 21.15
A nice couple of days with our Ruby. Our cat Minnie was pleased to see us, not abandoned but fed twice daily by Sally's Sister Julia. I slept like a proper sleepy person last night after trudging the West Midlands all day.

Yesterday afternoon we walked to Wheels up North in Longridge, the field was covered in cars, it was heaving, lovely to see so much support.

It’s a car club, they hold events around Lancashire and the Lakes. They have a good website with pics.

Last night, Barnoldswick and District Rotary Club Quiz Night at St Joseph's. We had a full team of Bosom Friends Trusteees and at the halfway mark we were leading but tying with two other teams. Didn't last, the picture round did for us, Keeley Hawes, (Mrs Durrel amongst others), Tip of my tongue, but could I put a name to her, no! There were one or two others as well that the penny wouldn't drop with. Oh well, the pie and pea supper was good apart from when I tried to put a bit of of ground pepper from a mill on mine, the lid came off and I got nearly the entire contents of pepper corns on my supper! |I had bit of sorting out to do there.
Rotary chose the bloke that normally wins their quizzes to set and ask the questions, more than one or two were bit more than general knowledge shall we say. Anyway a good time was had by all and I would think a good bob or two was raised for Rotary funds We try to support their events as they reciprocate with the ones we organise. Both groups are in the role of helping others in the community in different ways.

Stopped off at Thoresby Hall, Nottinghamshire, on the way home from Kent. It breaks up a relatively boring journey home. The rooms have been recently refurbished, nice food and some entertainment last night, a walk in the grounds after breakfast this morning. We're visiting friends in Mansfield Woodhouse this afternoon.
