All good plans...it rained! I have spent the day trying to dry two bath sheets, 4 towels, king size bedding and two other loads.

Got all the washing dried and put away, basic cleaning done and in between packing managed a bit of entertaining with Roland and an exchange of contact details as he will have moved when we get back.

All went well that is until the ferry. We are on our way to Cardiff from France for a family do! Sitting on the ferry, miles out in the channel we remembered we left our clothes for the do freshly ironed, hanging in the wardrobe in France. Thats what an early start does for you. I will just HAVE to buy something new now.( it already was a new unworn dress in the wardrobe) Hope Bob doesn’t need his one and only suit before October. Several times at the packing stage I thought to move the clothes downstairs but forgot😏

So last night we stayed in an old pub in Salisbury, waking on french time we can have an early start. We are heading to the shopping centre at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol for new clothes. Then we are meeting friends for lunch before continuing on to Cardiff.

It amazes me too Stanley, normally we would have left a note reminder on the breakfast table but we both forgot. The issue with the washing threw my day! I have some nice trousers in my bag so a nice top should suffice. I carry clothes I like backwards and forwards. Bob doesn’t. He travels light so just has another set of casual clothes with him. We both chuckled which proves how relaxed we are these days. :good:

We were both to blame and both not to blame. Two should have remembered and two forgot. Anyway, Cribbs Causeway came to the rescue. I got a nice black and white top to go with the cerise trousers white bag and shoes I already had. Took some finding. Bob spent a small fortune on shirt and trousers, rather nice though. He found a personal shopper in John Lewis! If she was on commission she is eating well tonight :laugh5:

We followed it up with a nice lunch with Bobs old school friend and wife in Bristol then journeyed here to Cardiff in rush hour. Feet up with a cuppa for a well deserved rest.

Home, all good here. The garden is not as wild as expected and no nasty unexpected events or things in the post. In fact the post was a few statements and masses of leaflets and unwanted catalogues. Unpacking nearly done, washer on, and a longed for cup of tea brewed and consumed.

Good! Now settle down and recover for a while....
Later at 09:00. Laura is 90 minutes away from Perth at 37,000 feet over the Indian Ocean. Fascinating to be able to watch her progress. If anyone had told me this would be possible 60 years ago I'd have laughed at them. We live in remarkable times!
10:00. Just watched her land and dock at Perth......

Hairdressers this morning first thing for a much needed hair cut. Rain stopped play but I have managed a couple of hours tidying the garden but the brown bin is now full. I found all my cacti which I put out in the garden when we go away, I don’t think they will need watering for a few weeks! I have also potted up 24 strawberry runners in the greenhouse.

The pond news is that my straw bales seem to have worked, our pond blanket weed has gone. The pond is nearly empty, just need a dry day to find the leak and do the repair.

Today we are meeting a distant Australian relative, found through my research. We are visiting, Salterforth, Foulridge, Rochdale and Heptonstall to show her the family origins. Her direct line ancestor was the brother of mine. You may recall me asking about Sandhole, now Sandhall farm. We shall lunch at the Anchor Inn, then visit Rochdale for a brief look at the Church, before goi g on to Heptonstall later this afternoon. Its a shame it is going to rain.
