When I left for Yorkshire, some 4 weeks ago, I had the garden in a submission hold. Little did I know that under the surface were rampant weeds waiting for me to go away so they could flourish. The garden in this house was just filled with weeds, and it is almost back to square one!

I was greeted by these lovely white flowers this morning. Not sure what they are, they look like something a Grandma might grow.
I have 2 of these bushes and they were planted a good 20 years ago.

I picked this from my tree yesterday. I'm quite proud of it, and it tastes almost as good as it looks.
It's been a good year for apples. Not so good for plums - the wasps beat me to it.

Looks good David.... I have had to ban apples from my diet. Another penalty of Type 2!

Me too but I don't have diabetes. It's the acidity that inflames my gut. People will say to me `Eat this apple, it's very sweet, not acid'. I have to decline the offer and explain that the perceived sweetness masks the acid that is always present in apples.

I often forget the cross you have to bear Peter. I apologise, I speak as a man who is expecting a gallon of vinegar to be delivered today.....
I am so lucky in so many ways..... When I think of all the things I could be suffering from, my small tally seems amazing.

Here's a photo of my favourite Japanese maple tree in our front garden in recent days. We also have one in a pot in the back garden. They start the year with bright green leaves but in late summer the leaf edges turn red and by the start of September they've turned completely to this stunning red colour. It's
Acer japonicum `Aconitifolium', named because it's deeply dissected leaves resemble those of aconite. The one in the photo is about 30 years old (we bought it when it was only a few years old) and if planted in the ground it would have been much larger, probably about 20 feet high. It's a difficult plant to find in plant nurseries so we were very lucky recently to find the one now at the back of the house.

Our local gardens are looking lovely at the moment.
My garden has a lot of yellow, and some wild roses .My Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is flowering .
The flowers start off Blue, turn to Pink, then turn to White. (Brunfelsia pauciflora).
They have a lovely scent in the early evening.
