2 pieces of 12"x12"x1" MDF purchased for the floor stands. Stanley has one of the light stands for a template. Pictures will follow for those who have no idea what I'm wittering on about :laugh5:

I've had the router out of the cupboard and made good use of the round-over bit on the MDF. They are now in their first coat of primer...

The nice thing for me about yesterday was that it's a good example of what the site does so well, gives people an opportunity to do nice things for others for free. This can be found right through the topics, genealogy is perhaps the star and look at the cooperation on the War Memorial names. The world is short of 'nice' and as long as we can remember that OG is a good source we don't have to worry too much about reports of our imminent demise. Love to you all.

Much appreciated it was, too. The floor stands have now had 2 coats of primer/undercoat and a coat of hard wearing gloss. I'll leave them in the cellar for 48 hours to properly dry out before moving them to the studio, once I have them there I'll take some pics of the finished items.

Had a play with Stanley's D200, a nice comfortable camera to hold onto.

The thing that strikes me about Mrs Nikon is how the lens mount and the position of the major controls is exactly the same as my old Nikons. They made some good decisions all those years ago.

Settled in nicely with Mrs Nikon's auto lens. Hasn't the ultimate sharpness of the old Nikkors but it has solved all my problems. Point and shoot again.

Kev, I noticed something interesting when I popped in the shed this morning to do a quick snap of the grinder and was surprised that the two pics I did had different colour balance, both different than what I get during the day. Then I realised it was because the flourescents ware still warming up. I left tghe balance alone, you can see them on Shed Matters.

Fluorescent light is a strange one. When I used to use (daylight) film, 5500 degrees Kelvin, fluorescent light would give a green cast.

Been using the new floor stands in the studio. They do exactly as expected "pats on the back all round I think". Excellent job.

Went down to the Earby Camera Club last Tuesday. They were putting pictures together, for an exhibition, at Barlick Library (being put up tomorrow, Sept 1st). First impressions were of a nice bunch of people with a passion for photography.

The exhibition, upstairs at Barlick Library, has some very good images on display. Well worth a look and you can vote for your favourites.

I did a pic of daughter Susan yesterday on the green and when I put it up on the screen the first thing that struck me was that it was too green. I had a closer look and it wasn't! It's simply that because of the weather this summer the trees and the grass are really green. We sometimes forget that while we are criticising the weather it does mean that we get a green and pleasant land and not a sun dried desert in summer. I remember how surprised I was by the lack of green in the landscape in Minnesota in summer, I could have understood it in a desert but not a relatively temperate climate like the northern mid-west.

I agree Kev. Are you in touch with Gus? I've ripped his pic of the Letcliffe Tank from the site to use in an article but can't find him on the member list so I can make sure he won't be upset. I'm sure he won't object but I'd like to be polite and ask!
