That's part of the scam, they pretend to be someone you know.

Yes, they've become much more effective at spoofing than in the past. Mrs Tiz had a WhatsApp from a member of our family last week asking if we could give her daughter a loan because she'd had a bump in the car and hadn't enough cash to get it sorted because it was just before the end of her credit loan. Even though it was on WhatsApp it rang all the alarm bells for us and we carefully checked and fortunately found it was genuine and we were able to help the daughter. Sadly, nothing on the web and internet is absolutely safe.

Has anyone received anything like this. We have had a few parcels delivered recently, and one pending, but I just smell a rat with this, especially as the word address is spelt wrong.

It's a scam Gloria, you're right to question it.

I was about to say the same, I got one of those but had no parcels outstanding at the time, click bait is the technical term.

Sometimes they also ask for a minor payment to reschedule delivery, if you comply of course they inherit your credit or debit card details.

Scammers are constantly at it. Our firewalls at work are battered 24/7 by them trying to get in. The simplest 'click' on the wrong link could start a scenario that could open the floodgates giving them all sorts of access.

Sadly there are plenty about who fall for these scams.
Anything that either sounds to good to be true (you're a winner, click here to claim your prize) or, we need to redeliver your parcel (click here to confirm your address) or anything with a deadline (click here now, this offer won't last long) should set alarm bells ringing.
Don't trust links sent in emails, even if it's from someone you know. Email addresses can be 'spoofed' by scammers, if you receive something unexpected or with a sense of urgency don't click on it without contacting whoever sent you the email by other means (a phone call).

That's why we still receive our emails as plain text instead of HTML. It's harder for them to hide nasty links. We can always turn it to HTML later if necessary - but it rarely is.

I always press FORWARD to check the address it has come from , then delete. However one I had from so call Amazon recently was very clever, it looked like a real address. I went on my Amazon account to check there was not an outstanding order of £100 supposedly ordered by someone else . I also checked my paypal.

They are getting cleverer.

The fake Amazon emails can be very clever. I've seen Annazon and Amazan in the sender's address. The more sophisticated scammers will use things like Amazon-UK.com to trick people.
