The first thing I noted when I went outside this morning was the wind.... Best of luck to you both.....
Later at 05:20. The Shipping forecast is giving force 9 gales in the Irish sea in the next 24 hours.....

Good job as well Kev. Hints of Storm force 10 in the wider Irish Sea. You and Pauline are much better off on dry land!

The shipping forecast says about force 5 which is a brisk wind but nothing to worry about. I'm glad.....

Which finally left at 15:30, currently force 6 and a bit bumpy. We've had some lunch and a coffee, just trying to have a nap now but keep sliding out of my seat :biggrin2:

A nice trip along the A59 to Fullwood and back. Picked up our rescue cat Minnie. She's been hiding since we let her out of the cat carrier. :extrawink:

All new to her of course so a softly softly approach to gain her confidence. She has water, wet and dry food to sample and a new litter tray. Learning curve for us all but we have had a purr from her, even from under the table.

Could this be cause and effect.
I had blood pudding, fried eggs and mushy peas for breakfast, a tiny helping of chicken and veggies for dinner and a more substantial one for tea. I felt as though I had eaten too much.... :biggrin2:

A bit of an embarassment all round.

I've just scurried home from "The Hub" in the next village. They had a "Meet the Author" session, and again it was Laura Thompson .

Keen readers of my work, will recall that this has all happened before a few months ago, when I was the only one to turn up to an empty closed and dark 'Hub'. I went for a Chinese takeaway instead. This time I did it all correctly and booked, and even revealed my name.

She came this time.

I bought her first ever book called "The Dogs" and thought it the best on the subject I'd ever read. She really "got it" which very few do.

I had no idea what the evening would bring - however I wasn't prepared for wall to wall and very detailed Agatha Christie. I think she's the subject of her latest book - or at least the one she's plugging at the moment. I wanted to meet and learn more about Laura Thompson, not Agatha Christie. I guessed she'd be selling something, and was quite happy to buy it, as a 'thanks for coming' gesture.

I tolerated it for as long as humanly possible - but after about 45 minutes had to decide how best to withdraw. I went for the direct method - just got up and walked out (as discreetly as I could) which in the circumstances was not very discreet. Luckily I had a table towards the back of the fourteen strong audience. I considered - but decided against, a public announcement and apology. I think it was probably for the best.

I don't see anything wrong in leaving if you are not enjoying yourself David. Apart from your recommendation I have never heard of the lady and reading her biog she'd doing a bit too much self-promotion for my taste......
(Of course, she went to Oxford University and probably has an inflated idea of her own importance....)

Off to The Grand Theatre, Blackpool for a bit of entertainment. A chippy tea is essential.
