A nice wander along Skipton Old Road this evening, my physiotherapist recommended some gentle walking to supplement the neck and shoulder exercises he gave me. I must admit I ache a bit now but I did enjoy it. Hopefully shouldn't be too long before we're back to full fitness.

Took a walk into Colne today, watched middle offspring, with the rest of the Overload guys, at The Union Exchange as part of the Blues Festival fringe.

Did a similar trip into Colne just to get the flavour of what the 'young uns' were up to. Called in St Bartholomew's church for a cup of tea and cake. Excellent value home made cake. Sat outside listening to the bongo drums they had as entertainment. Kept my eye open for any moving gravestones but they remained well planted. Just missed the tower tour that one of the leading bell ringers was giving. Actually went up as far as the bell ringing floor but had to bow out without doing the bell floor and roof. (Mrs P was still holding my tea and cake outside). For those interested there is another tour planned for 24 Sept.

Drifted down Albert Rd along with other more sober spectators while the Blues enthusiasts were inside giving it plenty.

Yesterday was one of days we wish to put off as long as possible. A funeral of a good friend and working colleague at Padiham St John the Baptist. Well attended with lots of family members but also with a good number of ex-colleagues who unfortunately I rarely see except, you've guessed it, at funerals. Good to see them again and have a quick chat but you realise that time is running out for all of us but the old humour was still there.

On a lighter note it reminded of one of my favourite paintings by Hubert von Herkomer 'The Last Muster'

Depressing Ken but oh so true! I have been heard to say that the problem with getting old is that you have to bury your friends and occasionally your children.
I tend to avoid funerals, I have enough reminders of my mortality without any reinforcement!
(But like you, I would consider making some exceptions for very close friends....)

I am of an age where I seem to forget where, or why, I have been to earlier in the days, it takes quite a bit of thought to recount it to the odd friends I meet.

I realise I was discussing the role of the CofE in society this morning at one of my local Anglican(liberal catholic) churches in a post mass coffee morning they organise, which was insightful and independent of thought of news backdrop of any particular British monarch, one of the churchwardens expressed an opinion that there was indications of a return to churches of elements of the population, but that was against a background of uncertain times.

Thinking back this year at another Anglican (even more liberal, slightly less 'Catholic') church we had a Compline ? / Evensong for Elizabeth II's 70 years and I was reminded of the daily prayers for the British Monarch, Family. and their Ministers as I thought back of the comments made by the Curate and vicar in charge on the very specific role of Elizabeth as a person.

About Three Weeks ago went over to an event in mum's borough covering elements of history of the borough. Her church had a display which included the new history of photos taken by one of the members (who works at the Houses of Parliament) In his spare time he has a curated collection of memorabilia of British Monarchs, but I didnt realise he had been out and about this year taking photos of Elizabeth II
(I dont know if his Parliament pass gets him slightly better positioning ).
So a photo of some of those photos. 25708
Summer seems a long time ago , and now we get in London the rain in bucket loads that we didnt get in June or July

For a wander up Noyna Hill. There's blue skies in the west and grey in the east.

This is where we've been for the last 5 days after we'd recovered from Covid - St Michael's Mount, Marazion, Cornwall. No, we didn't stay in the castle (!) but this was the view from the window of the holiday cottage we rented in Marazion. Lovely weather and fantastic views. We still hadn't got back all our energy so we stayed around the town, walking on the beaches and cliffs and chilling out on the patio with that glorious view. To the right of the castle is the wide sweep of Mounts Bay with Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole (pronounced `Mouzle') all in sight. At night the lights all the way around the bay made it feel like being on the Bay of Naples! (You can see from all the wires that it's going to be a tricky job providing any underground cabling in Marazion!)

Cathy, you can see there's a causeway across to the Mount and you can walk across at low tide but have to go on one of the small ferry boats at high tide. When we were there this time the weather was excellent and during high tide the ferry boats were running back and forth continuously - you would think the island was too small to hold all the visitors! At low tide there was a continuous stream of people crossing the causeway.

Here's a photo taken from the same spot looking out across Mounts Bay...

Thanks for mentioning about Tripps. We've only just returned late yesterday and I hadn't seen enough of OG to realise he was still absent without leave. I hope he returns soon, I miss his wit and wisdom!

One of the nicest views I have seen for a while Peter (and technically very good as well!). David will be back, he is dealing with some problems at the moment I think.
I went to Colne on Wednesday for my Covid booster. Does that count for the topic?

Looks like you enjoyed your trip away Tizer, good to hear you've recovered from the plague too.
We're still in Southport, came to watch a Tina Turner tribute show at the Atkinson Theatre. A very enjoyable evening preceded by a selection of dishes in a small Turkish restaurant. Just having a coffee before setting off home.
