Autumn is almost upon us, the Autumn Equinox occurs at 20.44 UTC on Sunday 22nd September.

That's your lot for Summer, all in all it's been a pretty good one although some will no doubt disagree.

Wendy or Stanley will be the harbinger of Autumn this year so enjoy the "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness".

Good lass Wendy....
Quiet pleasant day yesterday, light wind, occasional spit but no rain and no extended sunshine. I listened to reports of +20C around the country, we didn't get anywhere near that. Glass continues to rise slowly, over 29.5" this morning. Forecast is for a similar day, perhaps an odd degree warmer.
08:00.We've had our walk and it's a topcoat warmer than yesterday, the breeze is very warm and humid. As promised in the forecast there was a light sprinkle of rain but not enough to wet anything. One thing I did notice was the number of leaves gently dropping out of the trees on the green. No doubt a good frost will trigger a further sign that Autumn is definitely with us.

Misty and mild this morning. Yesterday turned out sunny and warm. Glass has risen slightly to 29.6". Forecast for today is for a similar day and no significant change until Thursday which is to be a wet day. Good weather for the time of year.....
08:00. We've had our walk. Warm and humid....

Mild, calm and overcast this morning. Glass fallen back to 29.3", a precursor of the rain they forecast for Thursday? Might be coming in a bit faster than they thought. Our night temperature is about the same as yours at the moment Cathy but will soon start to get a lot lower....

Dry mild, calm and overcast. Just getting light. Glass is down a touch at 29.2". Forecast is for a chance of a shower, light northerly wind and a bit cooler than yesterday. Shipping forecast very quiet so no extreme changes about at the moment.
08:00. Pleasant walk round the town. Quiet weather, just what we need at this time of the year....

Our transition from winter to spring isn't quite over yet. Adelaide had a mighty storm last night with destructive 100kph winds, and heavy rain. Our SES had over 300 call-outs for damage done. All calm today. Temps will rise to 31C by Monday.

Turned out nice yesterday in Barlick. Clear sky this morning, calm and dry. Glass has fallen to just over 29.1" but forecast looks fine till Wednesday when we go into a rainy spell.
07:30. We have had our walk. Clear sky has been replaced with mist but still a pleasant morning.

A brisk Easterly breeze up here, but nice bright sunshine now. Perfect day for a walk...we've just got back from introducing Bertie to the delights of Weets.

Hi Wendy, which route do you take up Weets?

Folly Lane when I walk it Elise and then usually come off a different way. Straight over the side and down over the moor and back via Brown Hill or down Gisburn old track, Brogden then back via Jack House. I normally meet Wendy coming down the way I go up but she will no doubt confirm her own routes.

We park at Letcliffe, walk up Lister Well Road onto Gisburn Old Track then back over the top and down Folly Lane, passing Bancroft on our way back to Letcliffe. It was an invigorating walk this morning....no sign of Ian though.

The sky was as clear as a bell at 4am this morning but now it is broken cloud and a bit of a breeze, cool but dry. We've had our walk and it's a pleasant morning. No complaints!

At last October is here. To a photographer it means great light, sunsets and dawns at a more convenient time, a diminishment of distant figures in bright clothing on all my landscapes a plethora of over wintering birds to observe and capture.
To a fisherman it means the die back of weed growth, and the access to unfished water this allows, plus the chance of that elusive 40lb Pike.
To me October to February is the best time of the year.

October means clear the garden, top up the freezer with home made soups and apple pies. Fill the cupboards with home made jams and chutneys.
