I'M POSTING THIS IN THE HOPE THAT THE SEARCH ENGINES WILL PICK IT UP. THERE ARE MANY RESULTS FOR THE EARLIER VERSIONS OF THE PROJECT BUT SOME ARE NOW DEAD LINKS DUE TO SITE CHANGES.
THERE IS AN ENTIRELY NEW VERSION OF THE PROJECT AVAILABLE ON ONEGUYFROMBARLICK.CO.UK WHICH IS COMPLETE AND MUCH IMPROVED. FULL DOWNLOADS ARE POSSIBLE AND ENCOURAGED. PLEASE ALERT ANYONE THAT YOU KNOW WHO HAS AN INTEREST IN LOCAL HISTORY AND TEXTILES.

Topic came up straight away, did that help?

Time will tell Cathy. I'm hoping the search bots will index it and spread the word!

Bots will already have been working on the topics that have been there since the end of November. I have edited this thread so it matches what is on the site LTP2013. Best to be singing from the same sheet.

The only problem about that is if you do a search it's the old references that come up.

I've just downloaded the new version and I think you should check the ODT files, they have pics but no text. I have deleted all my downloads and will await some word from you about what is going on!

Downloads are now functional on the site.

Does this mean that they are all in their final form? No more revisions? Please confirm and then I can get on with letting the world know.

Well done. It was that piece of work that brought me to this site so many years ago. I was looking for audio interviews in Lancashire to go with family tree stuff. I certainly found it.

I dip in from time to time. I'd say it was a unique scholarly well written, yet digestible, account of a life which has largely gone. The level of detail is incredible, (the noise of the machines) and will stand the test of time for future readers.
Did you imagine that within your lifetime it would quickly become more of a history site than a social and personal one? Is it time for a 'wind up summary essay' to give a simple overview, and put a full stop at the end of it.
Thank you for your wonderful work.
Ignore as required. . . .

David, you are too kind but I never saw Oneguy as anything but a way of getting the local history more widely understood and appreciated. The LTP was already digitised, the result of God knows how many hours transcribing, but was clunky. It was Ian largely who prodded me into going back in, doing an edit to make it more readable and inserting the pics in the text. He committed himself to a lot of work as well and I think it took us three years. it was very much a joint project and of course it was Ian who did the digital magic that got it on the site in its present form.
There were many hits on the old site before it crashed and to date there have been over 417,000 redirects of this version (Whatever that means.....)
It got a further boost when the Association of Industrial Archaeology gave me a lifetime fieldwork and recording award in 2004.
As for 'a simple overview' I don't think so. I don't believe that is possible and I am certainly too old to be attempting it.
I have been asked many times why I didn't push harder for more recognition. You have no idea how hard I pushed to get where we are now! It is out there in the wilds of the web and I think it's doing quite well for itself....
(But thanks for raising the question David, nice to be noticed and funnily enough, due to the way the web works, you have probably brought the LTP to the attention of another cohort of viewers!)

The hits are shown as redirects as the site redirects to the electronic copy of the data. Cant tell how many are from sentient beings or just passing hits by bots. The bots are automated and are a lot more active than our human visitors as they work 24/7/365. We don't have a statistic module to show how many are real hits or the duration of visits. A Google or other spider or crawler hit can be a microsecond but it will impact the hit count, some visit multiple times a day and some are active on the site all day.

Even so it is site activity!

Indeed it is but it skews accurate site activity by users and guests.

We can't bump the LTP too many times!
