I am trying to locate Thomas Brown's parents. Thomas was born in Thornton in Craven around 1834 and Married Elizabeth Broughton. They had four children that I know of Robert (b1867/8) x2 grandfather Thomas (b) 1873/4 Earby, Margaret b 1878/9 Earby and Richard b 1880 Citheroe. In 1861 he was unmarried, wood turner living alone Thornton in Craven. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Brenda

These are from the Thornton in Craven parish registers.

Thomas Brown baptised 23/4/1833 son of Thomas & Mary, weaver, Thornton.

25/12/1862 marriage of Thomas Brown, 29, bach., bobbin turner of Thornton and Elizabeth Broughton, 19. Witnesses William Mosley and Mary Dodgson, groom's father Thomas Brown, weaver. Elizabeth's father Richard Broughton
Children of Thomas & Elizabeth baptised at Thornton:-
Stephen born 11/4/63 bapt 21/6/63 (possible burial of infant Stephen Brown 16/10/63)
Walter born 14/7/64 bapt 2/10/64 (possible burial of Walter Brown aged 2, 14/3/67)
Robert born 16/9/66 bapt 2/12/66
Thomas born 20/8/72 bapt 3/11/72
Richard born 22/4/80 bapt 11/7/80 abode Clitheroe (burial of Richard 25/1/82 aged 1year 9months abode Clitheroe)
Margaret born 31/12/78 bapt 11/7/80 abode Clitheroe
Mary born 17/10/82 bapt 29/7/83

Marriage of Thomas Brown & Mary Smith 11/3/1823

That's all for now. Except that Thomas is described as a bobbin turner for each baptism until Richard's when he is described as a woodworker. He probably worked at Booth Bridge bobbin mill in Thornton, there is quite a bit of information about Booth Bridge on the site.

Welcome to the site Brenda. I've bumped the Brown Index, you might find a clue in there....

There is one baptism for a Thomas Brown at roughly the right time.
Baptism date 19/6/1796, Thomas son of Robert Brown, weaver of Thornton and Sarah (nee Baxter).

Robert Brown weaver of Thornton married Sarah Baxter of Broughton 24/8/1779

There is also a burial for Thomas Brown of Thornton aged 36 on 8/10/1832
