A friend would like to find out more information about Trawden mill as her ancestor was a miller there. I know it's not the Barlick area but maybe some of the experts on this forum would know where to find information online? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The only information I have is that John Bannister was the miller in 1871 Slater Directory.
The only other reference I have is that in 1510 the inhabitants of Trawden were charged for the repair of the road to King Mill at Colne suggesting that this was the customary mill for Trawden at that time.

There is a chapter on the corn mill in "The Annals of Trawden Forest" which is available to download online. The mill was built in 1566 and was situated on the site of the "Rock Hotel". I don't know if that is where the Trawden Arms is now.

My friend said "my 6th and 7th great grandparents were both Martin Huit, millers in Trawden. Would anyone know anything about milling in Trawden (or possibly Winewall) as it is a deep valley, so I supposed it would probably be run by water rather than wind? Or any ideas where I could find out further information."
I suppose I should ask her for the dates of both Martin Huit's (Hewitt?).
