Yesterday was wet and windy all day. At 20:00 it was still wet and windy. First thing this morning it was still raining and there has been no change. The glass is down on 982mb. The forecast is for rain to come in this morning. The WNW wind is moderate and gives a high of 6C and a low of 2C with a chill of -4C. The outlook is for warmer but wetter and much windier weather.

YESTERDAY'S RAIN PERSISTED UNTIL LATE AFTERNOON. aT 20:00 it was calmer and dry and is the same this morning so far. The glass fell yesterday to982mb but this morning is on 998mb. The forecast is for heavy rain this morning changing to sunny intervals late morning. The mainly WSW wind will be brisk gusting to 30mph giving a high of 7C and a low of 4C with a -5C chill. The outlook is dominated by rain and wind for the next three days.
The rain arrived at 04:30 and the wind is getting up. Deep Joy!

Well wrapped up, I have had a Crombie walk to the shops and then a sit observing the scene in Albert Road. Dry and breezy but OK if you're wrapped up. Still dry. We wait now for the wind tomorrow!

It was still dry yesterday at 20:30 but with a bit of a breeze. The wind has got up during the night and it's been raining. It's blowing even harder now and carrying light rain. The glass has fallen to below 983mb and is still falling. The forecast is for rain all day with a yellow warning for wind. The constant WSW wind well be strong and gust to 55mph giving a high of 11C and a low of 4C with a wind chill of -5C. The outlook is for two days more of wind and rain but cooler and possible snow on Friday and Saturday. A bit wintry!

Very wild and wet up here this afternoon, a 72mph gust here put the power out and it seems 2 poles fell in the top field at Higher Burnt Hill above us. We managed to do some temporary repairs to the poly tunnel which has a split forming on one side and the polythene tearing off around the door frame. Also managed to throw a tyre up onto a loosening corner of the workshop roof...
Power still off and still wild out there but warm and cosy inside!

Thursday indeed should see the calm before the next storm. Presumably the Jet Stream pushing the low south and hauling it in from the west, the higher winds expected accross southern england, which will bring interesting happenings as the more populated places get hit. While the storm centres over Northern Ireland and Scotland for most of the snow - though the BBC admits that computer modelling remains inexact as to the northern and southern boundaries of the wintery and windy weather. Though spare a thought for most of SW Ireland as the storm tail looks to be hitting there with some punch of rain. Overall January was dry, unsurprising the payback happens mid feb. Only a month till the spring equinox.

So glad you are back on the grid Wendy. Impressed that Colin's battery system worked.... Yes, not surprised by damage Kev, we had some bad gusts. At 20:00 it had stopped raining and the wind had eased a bit. This morning it is still dry but the wind has got up again, not forecast to be as bad as yesterday. The cloud is scattered and the full moon is visible. The glass fell to 977mb yesterday but is rising now and on 992mb. The forecast is for a dry windy day with light rain showers and sunny spells this afternoon. The west wind is brisk and gusting to 40mph but will ease back slightly giving a high of 5C, a low of 1C and a -5C chill in the strongest winds. The outlook is for worse wind and more rain tomorrow and then cooling down with the chance of rain and snow over the weekend. Active weather!

Tomorrow's journey to Southampton just stepped up a notch, our route is just to the east of the red warning of wind issued by the Met Office. Most of the journey is covered by the amber warning issued earlier.

Just had my walk and bookie watch. The wind is cold but it's dry and as long as you are wrapped up well you can be warm and the Crombie with a padded shirt underneath is very nice thank you.Quite pleasant actually.

Yesterday afternoon the weather improved later and at 20:00 it was calm, dry and mild. We had a quiet night and this morning it's still calm and mild but with significant rain. The glass was rising yesterday afternoon but this morning it's falling fast and is down on 986mb. The forecast is for heavy rain all day and for the wind to start strengthening as dawn breaks. The constant west wind will be strong and gusting to over 60mph by mid afternoon. We will have a high of 6C and a low of 0C with a -7C chill in the wind this afternoon. In short it's going to be a rough day especially for Peter in the South west and Wendy up at Lower Burnt Hill. Stay safe! The outlook is for more rain and wind, we are getting March weather early!

The BBC weather forecast for this area isn't that bad, with average wind speeds keeping under 20mph so we may be lucky.

The red warning issued at 03:45 this morning covers Southampton now, fortunately (he says with confidence) it's in place between 10:00 and 15:00 so I will be getting there around 16:00. There's an orange warning 'corridor', between the two red warnings, for the route down (M6, M42, M40, A34, M3 and M27) and the plan is to set off at 10 and take a slow drive down :good:

P&O Iona, Gloria. We're not due to board until midday Saturday, I have a hotel (with two weeks parking) for tonight and a car to take us to the cruise terminal. I didn't want the unnecessary pressure of driving down on Saturday morning, the deal I got for the hotel, parking and a car between the hotel and the terminal was similar to just parking at the port.
