You could say it was duck cacciatore.... a rich tomato sauce with garlic, onion, red pepper and mushrooms, slow cooked for two and a half hours then scorched in an attempt to reduce the sauce.

Gressingham duck legs from lidl bought on offer and frozen, certainly enhanced the South African Shiraz!

I shall be using my Hardy's Voyager when I casserole the pound of skirt I have in the fridge. Does that count?

We quite enjoy the Australian 19 Crimes red which I believe has become one of the best supermarket wines over the last year or so.

We've had a few bottles of that when dining at The Wharf. Unfortunately it's currently closed while they sort out the fire damage from last week, hopefully it won't be too long.

It appeared to be limited to the kitchen, there was only one fire engine so hopefully it's just a smoke clean up.

Another Aldi bottle with tea tonight, first impression from both of us was 'ooh! That's nice'.
It's very smooth and definitely berries.

Where is the best place to buy the 19 Crimes red, does anyone have it on offer? I've just been looking online and it would have to be for special occasions only!

Quick look shows Tesco at £7 (with a clubcard). That's about my upper limit, and above my target price'.
Possible problem is it seems to be a blend, and they're not always consistent. So much choice so little time. . . .

PS Talkng rubbish (again), There are several different reds. I found this at Morrisons. 19 Crimes The Deported The I noticed it had 3% coffee added. Good grief - quite put me off the whole brand.

Stick with Aldi . . . .

Strange experience at Tesco this evening. First the mission. I remember this wine getting a favourable mention on here, and the incentive couldn't be ignored. 19 Crimes The Uprising.. I'll take my specs next time as not all the 19 Crimes had the per bottle discount - just 'The Uprising'.

Well- from memory think Kev recommended it and I wouldn't disagree. very nice, and reduced from £10 to £6 if you buy six is good.

Imprimatur.
**************************************************

Now the strange bit - a coach load of squaddies invaded the shop just as I arrived. All in desert combats with blue berets and an enormous round enamel cap badge. They all looked a bit sunburned, and I guessed they were coming back rather than going. It looked as if they had not been in a supermarket for a while by evidence of keenness of their shopping. Tried to eavedrop but the language was unintelligible. I had to ask one what was going on or I wouldn't have slept - "we're QDG, but working for the UN" was the terse response to my query in the checkout queue.

Google tells the rest of the story - QDG

Welcome home. . . .

"The UN peacekeepers vigorously retaliated, neutralizing the two individuals.”"
I love the language they use David. In other words they returned fire and managed to hit two of the attackers.
You do have adventurous supermarkets..... Nothing like that happens in Barlick!

Well this is a surprise. . . .Chinese Cabernet Sauvignon

£90 for six bottles - I don't think so.

I got the 19 Crimes Uprising for £36 for six - safely in the cellar - actually a wardrobe in the spare bedroom.
