FERNBANK AVENUE MOBILE PHONE MAST

FERNBANK AVENUE MOBILE PHONE MAST

I’ve received word this morning that the appeal to allow the 50 feet high mobile phone mast on Fernbank Avenue has been allowed and it will go ahead. It was stated that the mast would be situated at the back of the pavement and would not be obtrusive. How anyone can assert that a structure almost twice as high as anything within 200 yards and totally alien to the environment will not intrude beats me.
I’ve spoken to the Planning Department at Pendle and they tell me that nothing can be done about this now. The government keeps talking about this amorphous concept called ‘choice’ and yet as soon as a circumstance arrives where choice is clearly stated the ‘stakeholder’ is ignored.
Who is getting the rent for this site. Could it be Lancashire County Council? Does anyone remember the puzzling silence of the County Highways Committee who refused to fight against this proposal when it was thrown out by Pendle Council? I suspect we are powerless but I would appeal to anyone who cares to kick up a fuss and ask questions. I for one will have to be dragged kicking and screaming past this attack on the concept of the Town Centre Conservation Area.

[Eventually it never happened but as far as I know we were never told why.]

Probably, someone saw a bit of sense and the Fire Station hose and ladder practice tower 50 yards away. Al the town centre infrastructure for mobile phones is on there now.
