Jennifer Morgan, executive director of Greenpeace International, commenting on the US returning to the climate change talks: "I think the United States needs to recognise that the world is very different than it was four years ago and enter in, in partnership and humility, not coming back in telling everybody what they should be doing, because the world's gone on."

I agree. My mate David Moore reckoned that all we are 'entitled' to is a pot of tea and a good bowel movement each morning. After that everything is down to us. That sound about right to me.

David Gerard, author of `Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain': Bitcoin is literally anti-efficient, so more efficient mining hardware won't help - it'll just be competing against other efficient mining hardware. This means that Bitcoin's energy use, and hence its CO2 production, only spirals outwards. It’s very bad that all this energy is being literally wasted in a lottery.

If I were a real miner I'd be annoyed by the bitcoin fans using the term `mining' for their computer work! It's bit like when in the 1990s everybody started using the word `technology' to refer to computers rather than all the industrial processes it had previously implied.

Mr Siemiatkowski (boss of buy now pay later firm Klarna): "To me it's slightly surprising to see the concern with buy now, pay later. "I'm emotionally upset when I hear comparisons to Wonga. "Klarna is very different. We've been fighting the bank establishment for years. "I'm surprised to see that there's not a more positive response."
Yes, Klarna is different - it's drawing in much younger people than Wonga did, teenagers especially, and it's in cahoots with all the big fashion firms and retailers.
