Extract from a transcription of deeds relating to Calf Hall and Damhead Estates transcribed originally by Doreen Crowther,



18th February 1871. Indenture between; J W Stead of Liverpool, accountant (1), Jane Hopwood of Southport, widow (2), William Bracewell of Barnoldswick, manufacturer [this is Billycock Bracewell of Newfield Edge], (3)

being a conveyance from (1) and (2) to (3) for the sum of £3,780.

[The property was sold at auction at the Seven Stars Inn in Barnoldswick and Wm Bracewell was the highest bidder.]

All those several closes in Barnoldswick viz. :-
The Old Laithe Field, the Higher Meadows, The Rough and the Kiln Field. Total acreage 9.1.32 in the occupation of Hy Slater. [Tenant]

2.
All those five closes in Barnoldswick known as Stainridge Fields, formerly in the occ. of James Hoyle.

3.
All that messuage, tenement or farm with six closes known as Calf Hall or Cow Hall Farm formerly in the poss. of James Whip, viz. :-
Calf Hall buildings, yard etc
Cottages, garden and plantation
Little Meadow
Calf Halls
Croft
Gt Meadow
Gt Rough
Stanridge
Plantation.

Total acreage 43.3.30
