I don’t know, Stanley. I still have a scar from where an 18 month infant in my care ( a foster child) threw his glass bottle at me so hard and it hit my brow. I nearly passed out...( he seemed very trained in the art of missiles!)

Our Carla had glass bottles and a Tommy Tippee later. Both boys were breast fed because breast is best. Carla would have none of it and was a projectile vomiter to boot. She is still my Princess.

When I went for mine it was very civilised. I think I was only in long enough to take a few breaths anyway. If it's at Barlick they had two clinics on the go both with separate entrances and exits.

You will exit via the bottom door onto Philip Street then. They must have worked through all the older end and the medically qualifying ones to get to you Kev. Surgery has done well really under the circumstance.

They're getting there, I qualify on medical grounds. P is looking at Asda for a jab, it's only £8. Barlick chemists don't have any left for her age group.

Had ours a month ago, we were very quick and no queues. We were impressed with the organisation. Wear a mask and a short sleeved garment under your coat.

Some may have considered us as being a bit alarmist when we made sure we got an early jab. It strikes me that we have had the last laugh, I have heard of people being quoted January as the earliest appointment. Evidently stocks of vaccine are either low or not reaching the surgeries and pharmacies.

My date with the MRI Scanner at LGI today. Car, train and bus. The MRI suite is in a different part of the hospital to the bits I have been to before so I reckon a No5 bus on the way up will get me somewhere near. I may walk back after the scan as it is scheduled for 15.40. Three quarters of an hour or so for half an hour in the machine. I probably won't be sorted until about 16.30 or later. I might get a bit of tea in the cafe. Don't want to hit the return train during the rush hour. Nothing on fire I can take my time.

Just got back from LGI about half an hour ago. I got an open return ticket for the train as I didn't know what time I would be coming home. Journey out was easy, hardly any cars in the car park at Skipton. Surrendered my receipt for the car park ticket when I got my tickets for the train and got £2 back. My return ticket was £7.25. At Leeds, stand 4 for the number 5 bus is right outside the station, I had just missed one so I had 10 minutes to wait. 15mins up to LGI with the road works and as I was going to a different bit of the hospital I got off at the wrong stop so I had to walk back a bit to find the right entrance.
Last time I was in this department I was was on a trolley with a porter who knew where he was going. I took the stairs to the second floor and 5 minutes later I was in the MRI suit bang on my appointment time of 15.40. They were portering an in-patient in before me so I had to wait a bit. Just time to fill all the forms in and I was then scooped up for my cannula fitting for the contrast, I was in the scanner by 16.05, twenty minutes later they shoved the contrast in and in another 10 minutes I was done.
I followed the exit signs out of the department but ended up coming out of a different side of the building. Couldn't find the bus stop so I walked back down via the Headrow, took me about 20 mins to get back to the station. Two minutes to the next train so I passed on that one and got a bite to eat and waited for the next which was the 17.42, all carriages had spaced passengers on but certainly not the normal rush hour throng for that time of the day. A lot of students who I assume from where they got off (Shipley), probably commute into Uni. All passengers behaving themselves with distancing and masks. The trains have a Covid safety officer who patrols the train for compliance. Only my car and another left on the front car park, I was home by 19.00.

Just wait for the result now.

This is one of the drugs that Trump claimed could prevent or cure covid-19 although there was no evidence for it at the time. Then he was given it when he was taken to hospital recently with covid infection. The WHO included it in a study but found it to have no effect on covid. Now the US FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn has approved it on the basis of trials by the US manufacturer Gilead. I don't want to stir up any conspiracy theories but Trump threw out the former FDA commissioner and installed Hahn in his place. Hahn has since been criticised for sacking Chinese researchers at the FDA.

No mention of when that will be and thanks Peter. The imaging team only take the pictures, the results go to the interpretation team next who provide a report for the consultant or whoever ordered the scan.
I have to report that the very young nurse that did my cannula has damaged me! I have been bleeding from the site during the night and I now have a nice red mark to show. It was her first time for the procedure and I did agree to letting her have a go so no real complaints here, she will not get better without practice.
She put the cannula in the crook of my arm same as at blood donors and the needle is somewhat fatter for the contrast dye. Slightly different procedure in that the line and syringe with the dye was already attached in the prep room and I carried them into the scanning room myself whilst they installed me in the scanner. When you have the cannula in the back of your hand it is just the normal tap that they inject the dye in for the contrast phase.
Anyway it didn't breach the lint pad I had on my arm so no leaking all over the duvet. Pad was full this morning though. Hospital does not dress the same as blood donors either, just a pad and surgical tape unlike blood donors where you get the square fully sealed plaster and a compression tab which is taped over the top. Anyway I will live.

I got one of them in Airedale Ian. The nurse did apologise when she was doing it and I forgave her. I had a red hand for about a week!

Didn't think I would be posting so soon.

I'm impressed, less than a week since I was in the scanner and I have my results! All OK no changes since last year.

My letter says I will get scans at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10 years after surgery. My named Clinical Nurse Specialist's will request and organise my next scan in October next year.
